What do you think about Naruto Uzumaki ?

Naruto was a compelling protagonist at the start, moreso than most other similar protagonists like Luffy, Gon or Goku due to actually having some justification in achieving his goal. The themes of being shunned by society or bullied are ones many people can relate to, making his progression seem far more down to Earth than most other superpowered Shonen kids and infinitely better executed than his BNHA ripoff.
However, starting with Sasuke leaving the village, Naruto became a boring character as there was little proactivity in his goals, instead becoming focused on bringing Sasuke back to the village, despite the fact he has far more reliable friends to care about. Making him a chosen one also siphoned all interest in his character out of him and made him a boring Gary Stu by the time of the last arc.

Haven't seen SAO, but from what I've known, he's little more than a Gary Stu who contradicts his very background. Apparently a shunned geek only good at video games is suddenly someone every woman wants to the point that they're willing to become trophies and has expert hacking abilities that come out of nowhere. The fact that he's known as the Black Swordsman makes it even more cringe.
