Gohan is not close to Goku. So much so that he's desperate to try anything. Like doing stupid shit like wearing his Dad's clothes. Lol. Meanwhile, Trunks is just about the same as Gohan. Those two are on the same level, Goku is not on the same level. Doesn't sound like good ol Dad is only 1.15x stronger now does it?

All I get from that is that he has yet to catch up to his dad. I fail to see how that denotes a big gap between them. If he is 90% of Goku, then he has still room for improvement as far as being equal to his dad goes. Imagine pre Majin Vegeta doing the same statement regarding kid Gohan... that would be fitting, no?

Well that's why Trunks expectation being surpassed shows us how strong Goku is...

Goku Actual > Expectations > Trunks >= Gohan

Why is this one difficult?

Trunks is expecting him to be superior, just not that much more superior.

I think Gohan is probably 90-95% of Trunks and Trunks is 80-85% of Goku.

Seems about right. I would like to have a bigger gap, but Future 17 puts a cape on it. Goku gaining a shit ton of power on Yardrat seems odd as well.

Why is that? He's just become a Super Saiyan. He can train in the form. Shouldn't that make his progression better now?

All in all this is what we have...

1) Yardrat Goku > Trunks >= Gohan >> Cyborg Freeza >= Goku Namek > Freeza

2) Future Androids >> Trunks >= Gohan > Future Androids (Less than Half) > Gohan 2 Arms


Those are the factual chains.

The question then becomes, how does Future 17 (Less than Half) match up with Cyborg Freeza? The whole series seems to get more and more outrageous, it probably makes sense to have Future 17 > Cyborg Freeza and some would make the case than even 2 Arm Gohan to be above Freeza.

It's quite possible that Gohan does not know how strong the Androids are, decided to at least surpass Freeza before he gives it a shot against the Androids. There's a lot of ways you can make the story work here. I think most are comfortable with at least Future 17 Suppressed being at least on Freeza's level, if not higher.

The chain goes more like Goku >> Trunks IMO. Goku was a huge deal to both Goku and Trunks.

I don't think <50% 17 has to be >> Freeza. Story of Trunks is more like a flashback on Trunks's life than the introduction of 17 and 18. The chapter was written by the time of the Cell Games.

It's true. I don't think Future 17 has to be particularly anywhere. Unless you think Vegeta was a Super Saiyan, then you have to make sure 17 is stronger than Vegeta or at least at that range.

I really don't think Vegeta would achieve Super Saiyan. Until Trunks came the "One SSJ each 1,000 years" was still up. Vegeta likely gave up on competing with Goku after he turned into a Super Saiyan.

So how do you see Cyborg Freeza vs Future 17's Less than Half power in comparison? And good point, Trunks showing up as a Super Saiyan probably gave Vegeta more confidence that he could make it as well.

Nahh Vegeta is SSJ in the Future timeline, he's just a whole lot weaker.

Trunks Saga Vegeta has probably caught up with Goku Namek at least in base. So 3 years later, Vegeta will be mega strong against 17, it won't work.

Because why on Earth would Gohan tangle with the Androids with 1 arm, let alone with 2?

SSJ Future Vegeta should be stronger than Future Gohan. Future Gohan was like 10 when that battle happened and Vegeta was killed. He's like 25 in the Future arc. Who says Vegeta got trashed in front of Gohan? Gohan may not have known Vegeta or that Vegeta even had SSJ.

I'm sure Gohan is aware of that battle, he was probably even there. Trunks says Gohan was able to manage to get away or something of that nature. If Super Saiyan Vegeta is fighting, Gohan should be aware of it. And Gohan should be aware of that power level and how it's not enough. That's probably what he would think about for the rest of his life until he encounters them. What else could be more important?

Gohan fought Recoome minutes after 30,000 Vegeta was trashed, he's a Saiyan warrior. Why would he not fight the Future Androids 15 years after Vegeta, Piccolo and crew were trashed?

I think Future Piccolo was on like SSJ Goku on Namek's level and Future Vegeta could be around Yardrat Goku Or even sick SSJ Goku's level. Still fodder to the Androids.
