In the manga, power wise. Goku was a better fighter and had more stamina, though.

SSJ Goku had a very clear advantage, to the point where the Daiz Numbers for them are applicable.

No he does not. A very clear advantage is something like Blue (pre-psychic powers) getting outright trounced by Goku. Goku was coughing up blood and quite clearly in pain after 100% Freeza's first assault which he said was a warm up, then lost half his shirt from Freeza's kiai and only took the upper hand after that due to his Ki sense and Freeza's waning stamina.

Freeza does appear to be the weaker of the two since Gokus hits did more damage to him over time but it wasn't a stomp

Goku's hits didn't do more damage, nah
Goku started the fight with 100% Freeza by literally taking several of his hits without fighting back. Freeza even caught onto the fact that Goku was buying time for Bulma and the others to escape. It's not a CLEAR and DECISIVE advantage, but it's there. Freeza's Ki drain wouldn't have become evident so fast if he didn't take a lot of damage, just like how Grade 2 Vegeta didn't appear to suffer from any real strain despite Grade 2 doing a lot more of a number on the body than regular SSJ which Goku admitted was still straining.

He didn't let himself get hit and Freeza was only warming up

Goku wasn't buying time, nah

Also Goku was able to sense Freeza's sneak attack in advance and beat him up, then fling him upwards even after Freeza was mad and serious. Goku let him hit him, you could say the damage wasn't severe since Freeza himself said that was a warm up but it's still free damage nonetheless

Freeza might have been bluffing when he said it was a “warm up” attack since he was kinda tired after it too. Either way, it’s no lasting damage to Goku.

Their first real exchange ends with Freeza looking like a fool and with his bloody nose. Now that’s real damage. Freeza then catches Goku off guard with the Nova Strike and does nothing but rip off his shirt, while Freeza already admits he’s losing energy.

In the final part, Goku is always bouncing back while Freeza is getting demolished. It looks more like Goku vs Tao.

Goku vs. Tao literally had Tao unable to land a blow outside of the free ones Goku let him land just after breaking his sword. Goku actually coughs blood and looks like he's resisting pain when he says Freeza's warm up hits were a disappointment, I'm sure Goku was confident he could win but I don't buy him having a huge advantage here.

Stop using head canon
when he said it was a “warm up” attack since he was kinda tired after it too.
Being in 100% tires him out by default

A tiny bit of damage. Goku couldn't even fully block Freeza's Kiai.

If we're giving Goku a point for hurting Freeza with his headbutt, then Freeza gets a point for hurting Goku with his Kiai

Freeza then catches Goku off guard with the Nova Strike and does nothing but rip off his shirt, while Freeza already admits he’s losing energy.
Cap. Goku was knocked down for a moment, and he was an even bloodier mess than he was before

And you can't just handwave Freeza stalemating Goku's Kamehameha with his Nova Strike. If Goku were stronger, then his Kamehameha would have just blown Freeza away

At least the idea of Freeza being dead is exclusive of Viz, but if it's not, then who was the one who killed him in everyone's mind?

There's also this:

Chapter: 328 (DBZ 134), P1.4-5, P2.1
Context: after learning that Goku beat Freeza
Tenshinhan: “B-but, to think that a Super Saiyan would be so incredible…Now Goku’s strength is the best in the universe…It’s like he’s become someone on a distant world…”
Kaio: “He might only be able to be best in the universe for a brief instant…”
