Nothing will happen until you point Godaddy to the new host. But once you do that then this site will go down. I believe the script lets you crawl and dump before you need to setup the new site (not 100% sure). Installing phpbb is relatively easy. Make sure you get the right version of phpbb that the script wants first though.

Yeah I believe it requires version 3.0.

IMO vBulletin far surpasses phpBB, but phpBB is also very nice and far surpasses Zetaboards. I'm down for either, honestly.

I'm partial to VB because that's what MFG was on and I loved that layout, but PHP is nice as well, nicer than ZB at least.

For future reference I consider vB > phpBB though they're both pretty good.

The crawlers are great but can be wont to odd errors and skipped data. It's why I've always been so cautious about using them. As was mentioned earlier as well, any changes to ZB layout over the years (the script is from 2009) could break the way the script reads the site.

There is also of course the risk that running this will simply result in the source user / IP from being blocked. Especially now they're using CloudFlare I imagine any massive requests like this could be added to their ban list.

If you do what to give it a go in the future ensure that you run it from your remote server (whatever you ssh into in order to run the script) rather than locally to prevent ending up banned from ZB - at least temporarily lol.

I am interested in attempting this project now, but I would need serious help with the crawler stuff. I'm not very technologically knowledgeable in areas like this, so if you would be willing to help, I ma even be able to pay you if you could successfully help to move the board.

The main thing to keep in mind is where you're going to host it and keep in mind that there will probably be a monthly cost for the server etc.

After that it's just a matter of running the crawler into a db and hoping it works
