I don't think forgiving is the right word to use either still since I've said I do accept the flaws in series I do like. There's nothing wrong with not ragging on Naruto if I have some sentimental enjoyment for it. There isn't some hard set rule for this kind of thing. I accept that what I like about Naruto is mainly superficial, and the plot overall left for much to be desired. I liked what came across overtly to me such as the power hierarchy. The only thing that came across overtly to me in Joejoe were the gay scenes since the plot was so cookie cutter. So maybe if I was gay I'd be able to overlook the simple plot and take the superficial aspects of Joejoe (gay poses), but alas I can't

There's nothing wrong with sentimental enjoyment because it usually plays part in liking something, but criticizing is another matter. Making nostalgia the main factor in liking or disliking series comes off as a pretty limited scope to appreciate series since many new titles naturally won't meet said demand. I'm not saying you aren't capable of liking series you show no such attachment to, but griping on overt qualities while enjoying others mainly on nostalgia is pretty close-minded criteria in my book.

Eh not really, I've liked a few of the newer series, and many of them are leagues ahead of Joejoe

I focus on overt qualities for manga that need to. HxH doesn't require me to like the art and it's still a good series. Joejoe and Naruto are examples of series that have shit plot, so if I were to rate it on anything but the plot it'd have to be what sticks out to me. What sticks out to me in Naruto is the power hierarchy which I really enjoyed, and what sticks out to me overtly for Joejoe is gay poses since the power hierarchy and anything else are stupid.

Eh you've called other series out for having what I assume you think is a mediocre plot which have coherent power rankings (DB and such) so I think nostalgia plays more of a part than you think. A lot of this is bouncing back to that opinion war thing (I'd just be stating my opinions on why I think Naruto's character writing and such suck ass and back and forth) so I'll leave it at that though.

I like DB's power rankings and it has the nostalgia. I don't think it's a great series but the reason I do like it is because of those two reasons. There's a difference between liking a series and considering it great.

Yeah you usually had more positive things to say about Naruto than DB so I used it as an example as I recalled you calling it shit once or twice. It'd be too investing to keep posting examples and I probably lost my edge when this became more about opinions than Jojo so I concede.

I don't have time to make a full list right now, but I'd definitely put Rurouni Kenshin up near the top. It's the one shonen series I can continue to read/re-read over and over again.
