Someone in Kanzenshuu made a thread the other day comparing the manga's japanese dialogue to the Viz translations, and as expected there seems to be plenty of gaps, both in terms of normal dialogue. Here's a link to the thread.
So basically:
- Vados' line about Kefla is a bit more vague. She just talks about how she's the perfect balance between power and skill now instead of saying she's unmatched in the battlefield.
- On the other hand, Goku's line about 17 is way more straightforward. Goku flat out says 17 was almost as strong as himself.
- Toyotaro isn't just as bad at writting dialogue as I'd think, Viz just screwed him up. A noteworthy example is that Bardock wished his sons to grow up well, not to "thrive", which kinda solves the whole "But Raditz is dead" thing.
- Toriyama is not Toyotaro's co-writer, he's merely credited as "original story" just like he is in the anime or GT.
