Warm up Goku vs Cell

Yep. I can agree with that. Aura's generally indicate a large percentage of power being used. Which makes us think about Cell a bit differently now doesn't it?

The aura just signifies that Goku had to power up to get to 50%, which in the warm up, we see he clearly does not power up to get to that level.

Well he did power up, but it was probably off screen. Goku already made a case to show how he can power up to get to 50%, so it's not necessary the 2nd time. See how different was Goku powering up into SSJ3 for the 1st time shown compared to the second time shown. Or see how grade 2 is portrayed differently when Vegeta did it for the first time (or at least the first time shown) compared to Trunks doing it later, which was pretty much instantly.

As far as we know, Goku did not power up before the warm up. We see every movement from when Goku enters the ring.
