Why do English dub shounen protagonists all have raspy voices?

Is this true?
Does it extend to main young male MCs outside of battle shounen and all shounen? Like the main guy in sailor moon or princess jellyfish (that even have a dub?)

If it is super common, why is that? Japanese voices don't seem to do it. Do real teenagers talk so raspy? I don't think they do. Is it because grown men VAs usually sound too manly, there are no teen VAs (plus labour laws for minors) and women sound too womanly?

Does anyone know if Japanese female VAs of shounen protags have voiced female characters too and if so do they sound different when doing those voices compared to their male characters - basically do they have some voice change to sound like a male teen, similar to English-lang VAs making it raspy?

Main character voices in dub are why I don't watch dubs.

Ichigo and Natsu are probably the only exceptions when it comes to mainstream battle shonen anime.
