Yea. That feeds into the idea that Haki is invisible.

Also he used it against Kaku.

Yeah he seemed to have used a rudimentary version of it. Probably just retroactive attempt at foreshadowing though,

He was able to cut steel in the later arcs as well iirc. Does that mean he had already mastered CoA even before training with Mihawk?

At a basic level maybe. The strange thing is that level still wasn't enough to be able to damage a logia, so it becomes somewhat unclear.

Chapter 779
Page 3
Mihawk (talking to Zoro in the flashback) : Have you ever broken a blade?
Zoro : A few times. You did It to me, even!!
Mihawk : If you had infused them with Haki, those swords would not have broken... You must treat every nick as a mark of shame. Every weapon can be turned into a black blade like mine. No liquor until you have mastered this feat.

So if he were using it, he sure didn't know about it and it was a very initial phase and stage of Haki.

I believe he used Kenbunshoku tho when telling where his swords were, vs Mr. 1. That seemed like the state Coby was in too, when he awakened it at the war.

Yea it's likely an initial involuntary stage of Haki. Zoro's Haki would have been so weak at that point that cutting steel was the best he could manage. It takes more than that to be able to truly imbue the sword with Busoshoku.

He used it against Kaku? Is that when Kaku was like "I can't move" or something

Ryou is what people of Wano call Haki. Hyogoro demonstrated Busoshoku level 2

How? All Ryou is Haki. Imbuing swords with Haki/Ryou is a level 1 application of Busoshoku

Isn't Ryou supposed to emit Haki from the body? In this case Zoro is transferring his Haki to the sword unless I'm missing something.

That’s the level 2 Busoshoku that Hyogoro demonstrated.

Shouldn't what Zoro be doing is level 2? He's extending his aura outside of his body.
