Outside of the top guys and those that were viable for offering a helping hand to them, there were quite a few fodders that don't necessarily need to be in that tier.
Sometimes we get characters that are established to be of a particular level (such as Kefla boasting about her Universal power)...
GT's like Z in how it has wacky scaling moments here and there, but sometimes there are ways to make sense of things.
With GT Gohan, what comes to mind is:
- No significant standalone victories
- Tends to be in situations where his power is used as a stepping stone (whether by a good guy or bad...
There's no doubt that Goku pushes Vegeta to get stronger, and the same can be said vice versa to some extent, such as Goku expressing his goal of surpassing Vegeta when preparing for Namek.
Training and competing in fights comes quite naturally to them, so if the alternate storyline demands it...
The ending is generally considered to be one of the strong moments of the series. Or to word it differently, one of the more 'tolerable' parts. When a story reaches it's farewell stage, there's a smaller window for error since the writer can rely on nostalgia & call-backs, and has more freedom...
To be fair, DBZ was its own beast with how it left an imprint on popular culture. That's why loads of fans and even non-fans can recall a bunch of Z moments with barely any knowledge about the original show.
What you're saying rings true for people like us who know both series entirely and can...
Those hype moments is largely why DBZ became so iconic. The extensive world-building also makes you realise that the first series only scratched the surface as to what's out there. In that sense, it took things to the next level.
^ Since Z was brought up, may as well ask this now:
@Fantastische Hure Is there any aspect of DBZ that you prefer to DB? You seem so fond of the original, so just curious.
Kid Goku vs Roshi ought to be mentioned; well-choreographed and a valuable learning experience for Goku. Also liked how serious things got later on with Krillin's death and the King Piccolo situation in general.
Fights like this is where feats really shine through in determining the outcome, since statements to do with character comparisons can be a grey area because of the different timelines.
Dealing with a Solar System Level being should be a cake walk for Broly given what happened in the film.
Making it that specific invites the question: how significant is that? Because DB fighters have a lot more overall freedom and versatility in how they can move and attack. For example, being able to evade a ground attack and setup a ki blast counter from mid-air. If a character is struggling...
In terms of head movement, Vegeta vs Pui Pui immediately comes to mind.
For whole body movement, can think of a few moments where Gohan and Krillin dodged blasts from Frieza.
It'd be more noticeable if characters didn't move so quickly that it looks like they're teleporting.
I actually see that as a plus since it gives respect to Buu's power. A quality that Buu had (especially Super Buu and Kid Buu) is that they posed a threat even to those that could, in theory, supposedly finish them. That's why Goku encouraged everyone to train in case they have to go through...
A lot of people don't like the idea of Goku prioritising training Uub over spending time with his family.
Though on a character level, it's such a Goku thing to do. Being a mentor to the younger generation was a seed planted back in the Cell Arc, with the risky bet on Gohan. Then carried over...
