I guess it's because of how many achievements Luffy has gotten on his journey, his growth, and the possible scenario that fighting a Yonko will be the final nail in the coffin for this to occur. I think the previous users of the fruit never made it that far.

Yeah, but it's still a fruit that grants rubber properties. A ''weak'' fruit that was used to the limit is still retained. It's not like a logia or Whitebeard's DF that are overprowered by nature.

After thinking about it more, I don't hate it anymore. There is a lot of reasoning behind why this doesn't make Luffy destined at all. Personally, I still would have preferred the route of Gomu Gomu no mi being some random fruit, but this reveal doesn't actually make the fruit any more powerful...

There is some interesting similarity between Luffy, Kaido, and Yamato All 3 DF possess the same smoke/clouds around their arms. At the very least, we know Kaido was said to be a candidate of Joyboy, and it's possible his Fish Fish fruit is somehow related to that. Yamato had eaten the...

The Impel Down guards were basically fodder with an annoying gimmick that came with awakening. Kaido as a Yonko would learn to control himself in that state I would assume.

Kaido kind of looks like those guards in this panel.

At the very least I like the design of G5 though. It's like the DBZ style where the strongest forms are often the least threatening looking.

We are nearing the endgame. Imu and BB might be the only guys that Luffy will have trouble against. Don't underestimate Akainu either.

There are other things that dont make sense. Aren't Zoans supposed to be have multiple transformations, including a regular human form?

I think it's safe to say this is the DF that Blackbeard wants to take.

I fucking hate it tbh. This arc was already bad enough and now we get this that retroactively ruins the charm of the main character. I’m honestly considering dropping.
