I do dislike some things about it however, Vilma's backstory completely shrank the scope of the world with how quite literally everything related back to her. And her long flashback wasn't engaging considering you knew the outcome.
Whilst I agree that flashbacks in general tend to not be too engaging due to a lack of tension, would you say that's entirely so for this case? After all, you can say the same for the Golden Age Arc of Berserk due to already knowing what would happen to Guts and Griffith, yet characterisation saves it. I'd say that's the case here as well, since we don't get told about the fate of Byron or Arthur before the flashback.
Also, would you say it's at least the most concise and interesting depiction of Vampires in fiction?

I have yet to read past volume 1 of Mars Chronicle due to wanting to read them physically, so I can't say my thoughts on whether or not it's indeed shit. Would you say the ending of Last Order was solid enough that you could remove part 3 from your headcannon in much the same way as how HnK's first part can be viewed entirely in solitude?

I will say that for me, I never actually read The Black Swordman arc first, The Golden Age was where I started. I ultimately think it's a better experience than if I had read the Black swordsman arc first. And I do agree with Bryon and Arthur, but ultimately we know that Bryon would be stopped.

Nah, I am Legend claims that title.

Unfortunately, no. Last Order's ending deliberately left loose ends meaning a continuation was inevitable, and honestly justified.

Must've been a misspelling.
