The game's opening. The nostalgia level is OVER 9000 and I absolutely love it. :Paladin :ahshit :alex

Pretty interesting to see Gotenks as a playable character. I wonder if this means the individual fusees would be playable for the open world.
Doubtful, considering what's been shown as far as the playable roster compared to support characters and factoring in Goten and Kid Trunks' minimal role in the plot. My guess is that Gotenks will only be temporarily playable for the story battle with Boo, similar to how you could only play as Videl for a short segment in Buu's Fury.

It's just confirmed that Goten, Kid Trunks, and #18 are only support characters post-Boo story.

It's been said that the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions will come with a DLC pack free in which there's apparently "1 extra story arc". Difficult to say whether that means Super will be DLC or if it'll just be a game original story. I'd assume the latter given we've been shown post-game quests far different from the canon timeline (eg. Galu reviving Freeza and Cell to spar with them individually) and the Boo Arc trailer suggested they were sticking to only covering Z.

After watching that last video CC posted there’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll 100% play the absolute fuck out of this game.

It's about a week old now but if anyone's interested in seeing this I think it's a pretty good presentation on what the game will be like.

Not sure if another source had stated this, but the latest trailer confirms the game is set to release internationally on 17th January.

That's far sooner than I anticipated. I imagined it was going to be released around late February.

I haven’t had time to watch anything beyond the opening trailer. What is the combat supposed to be like in this game? Is it fully 3-Dimensional like Budokai Tenkaichi/Raging Blast?

I have heard most people comment that it plays a lot like Xenoverse in terms of taking on multiple opponents and item use, though the camera angles definitely seem infinitely better, more akin to those of Raging Blast 2. It definitely seems far more refined than Xenoverse's controls though.

I hope it plays well. I really enjoyed the gameplay from the Raging Blast series, so a superior combination of that + Xenoverse could be sick.

Got the game today and have played up to the part where you play as Piccolo after fighting Oozaru Gohan. The controls are a lot more difficult to adjust to than I thought they'd be. If not for the healing item Bulma gave me, I would've lost to fucking Raditz :facepalm

Still, the game is wonderfully expansive when it comes to adding fun side quests and character interactions that makes DBZ feel a lot more tightly connected. I also really like the effort the developers put into fleshing out the locations of the Dragon World and its animal species, making the experience far more immersive and expanding on the glimpses of the world the main series gave us.

Can't make a definitive statement just yet. From what I've experienced, it's no Tenkaichi 3 or Raging Blast 2 in that area, but it at least doesn't require you to turn things a poorly angled spamfest like Xenoverse. I'll probably be able to make a more solid answer once I've unlocked some more features, considering I have yet to unlock much in terms of customisable support and the other more complex aspects of combat.

From the video I saw it looked like you don’t have complete control of the character. Does it feel rapid and quick?

I'd say you do have complete control of the character in combat. It's more-so that you need to be quick and aware of how your opponent reacts when fighting them, particularly in multi-battles where it's 100% guaranteed the opponent you're not locked on to will start launching an assault as soon as you finish your combo on your target or it not being a good idea to do melee combos too often in a boss battle (Piccolo VS Oozaru Gohan being an exception since Gohan takes far more damage from your melee attacks than Ki blasts/Supers for some reason).
As far as combat speed, it's about what you'd expect of most DB games in recent memory. It's faster than BT3 and the Xenoverse games, though it's difficult to say whether or not it's better at showing the speed of combat than Raging Blast 2 or FighterZ.

I've seen reviews say that you can make the combat complex depending on your play style, and you can get punished for button mashing, particularly against bosses.
