Do you like it? I've never watched them and I'm not sure if I've read any either. I think ecchi, isekai and old faded looking scifi anime are the only ones I can't bring myself to watch.

Fairy Tail and Seven Deadly Sins both deteriorate in quality.

Is it any more ecchi than Naruto or One Piece? Is there much sexual humour? I read 80 chapters of FT and the only extra fanservicey thing was Ezra's power.

Just remembered I watched Prison School, which is definitely ecchi, and found it funny...made me cringe enough to be hard to watch, but in a good way.

PS: "FT and 7 deteriorate in quality" still doesn't come close to answering the topic question.

They make all these sheet live-action movies, yet can't make a live-action of Prison-School.

Lol, can you imagine trying to find actors and actresses for it. And trying to make sure it's not too adult for normal TV.

Wait - there is a live action already.

Prison School is good, at least up to a point. There’s a sick, twisted sense of internal logic that it mostly adheres to, and the plot developments make sense in a totally absurd way (for a while).

Thing is, it’s good because it’s funny. Ergo, because it’s a comedy. Certainly the ecchi plays into that comedy, which is why it stands out, but it’s still not just ecchi, it’s also a comedy. Granted, most ecchis are also arguably comedies, but the punchline is literally just the ecchi.

That image isn't working, but yeah I get what you're saying. That's what I meant by "the punchline is literally just the ecchi."

I think people watch ecchi mainly for the lewd stuff. The comedy might be a secondary benefit, but it's generally so samey and unfunny that it can't be the main appeal. I mean, I remember shit like DxD having some actual jokes occasionally, but still.

We all know why you're watching any-way.

I just meant that those are the two main examples of ecchi manga, and since they go further downhill than Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece, they’re not recommended to watch over the Big 3 for example.
