Not deepthroating Dragon Ball and recognising the reality that it isn't very good isn't having such disdain for it. It simply isn't god-tier manga as has been suggested. There are much better works out there.

There aren’t. DragonBall is so easy to read it’s unbelievable. Most other manga it takes some time every now & then to tell what’s going-on or the panelling flow/transition is so bad you find it hard to visualise in some-way.

Since when is "easy to read" the sole quality of a good manga? And a subjective one at that. I find Chi no Wadachi and Berserk to be easy to read. I find Vinland Saga easy to read, and they all have better stories and characters. DB is very vanilla in comparison, and increasingly after say Freeza, just seems very stale and same-ish to me. Not to mention the stakes are undermined drastically by the Dragon Balls themselves.

I do agree with SHC about the art. It may not be the most detailed in comparison to other manga, but the quality for the majority of the manga is top tier - especially considering Toriyama's schedule. I have the utmost respect for someone who can bang out such high quality work with that sort of scheduling.

In terms of the story, while it can be argued that DB has a pretty simplistic story, the aim of the manga was never to go beyond that. Toriyama clearly mastered the type of storytelling that he was going after if the series became such a commerical success, and continues to be to this day. There's no denying that AT is on the GOATs even if you consider other manga to be better. Hardly anything in the manga world is as influential or well known as DB.

When I say easy to read I also mean the panel-to-panel transition. Some manga (even maybe good ones) are so abrupt it goes from A-to-Z and you are wondering WTF happened in the middle, but AT’s you can tell so easily almost as if it’s a moving image.

AT said that he intended for the series to be as easily understood as possible and to provide joy and laughter to young boys worldwide. It's got smooth panel to panel transition and fluid action sequences and a mostly coherent plot, which is more than what I can say for Hokuto no Ken, One Piece, Toriko and Naruto due to the massive, massive downturns they have in the latter halves of their respective serializations.

While this is all a fair enough point to make I don't think any of it means that AT is the "GOAT" or his work is the best
