You probably ought to stock up on a fair amount of healing items as it's a long climb to the top of Mr. Coronet. I like how ambitious Game Freak was in implementing a location with that many layers, but it's easy to see why they've never tried to do the same thing since.

I'd much rather have a more challenging landscape than what is present in Sword and Shield. The region is Sw/Sh felt more basic than Gen 1

Can't be serious. After throwing 40 ultra balls at it on my 5th attempt I just caught it with a great ball :facepalm

Luxray vs Electivire, which is better? Luxray doesn't seem to have as good of a move pool and is much slower.

Electivire is unobtainable now since most trading functions are unavailable now in Gens 4 and 5, with Electabuzz requiring being traded holding an Electirizer to evolve, making the only way to get it nowadays being if you have the Wii game Pokemon Battle Revolution and use a code in the game to get it in the Gen 4 handhelds via a mystery gift. That said, Luxray is your only real choice for an electric type. It's not a bad one though, since it has a good physical attack and Crunch is a great move.

You can't even do local trading? I have 3 DS's at my disposal to trade between and have the held item that will allow it to evolve.

Luxray is fine, it would just be nice to have a better physical attack than Thunder Fang.

I'm not sure as I've never attempted it in almost a decade due to lacking another DS/3DS to trade with until I see my cousin sometime next week and the only Gen 4 game I have left right now is Pearl. You could try it out if you want to test if local rooms are still a thing though.

You can trade locally, it requires no internet connection to do so.

Might give Electivire a shot then. I can catch Electabuzz at level 40 anyway, so there won't be much catching up to do.

One thing worth warning about Electivire though is its limited physical move pool. If you can catch one, you'll have to pray it has Thunder Punch on it to not waste a heart scale and perhaps that it also has Fire Punch for coverage (which it'll be unlikely to have). Other than that, you'd have to rely purely on TMs. It has Low Kick via relearning and later gets Giga Impact, but the former is too situational to warrant wasting a heart scale and the latter has way too many drawbacks and requires getting it up to Level 67.
The moves it learns through TMs are good, though you'd have to debate whether it's worth doing so rather than using them on other Pokemon. I'd probably say it's worth it though as long as you haven't already used TMs such as Brick Break, Earthquake or Rock Slide.

Damn, this thing is a beast. Thunder punch, rockslide and brick break so far. Will probably give it fire punch next time I play as well.

The VS Seeker is insane in this game in regards to how easy it makes training. Captain Cadaver does gen 5 have vs seeker?

Unfortunately not, though Gen 5 does have some easier methods of grinding for exp and money post-game if you know how. The only games after Gen 4 to have a similar function is ORAS with some trainers randomly wanting a rematch at certain times rather than through the use of an item.

Loss of general trainer rematches is easily one of the most unfortunate things this franchise has done.
