It could just mean that he was taking them more seriously now. He went from giving them a beat down to being about the kill them with a blast.

It's interesting because he was already in kill mode before. AT was so good with his fight scenes, he kept them very realistic and although the need is to extend fights sometimes, he did it with such style.

Raditz had already been done playing around in regards to his agenda, but only now is he done playing around in regards to his full power. Raditz showcased unseen speed that blows Piccolo away, indicating that a speed-up has occurred. Piccolo never expected Raditz to be able to dodge the attack.

Just think, we know for certain Raditz didn't use his full speed to avoid the Kamehameha, or he'd have left it in the dust.

Raditz is at least 1.25x the blast I’d say.

I think his running speed is 1,000 but his power has to be a bit higher to stop it like that.

So here's something to consider. Why is Raditz unable to dodge 1,307 Gohan but is able to dodge the Makankosappo?

Not to the same degree. We know SBC > Gohan for sure.

So the only explanation is that he was caught off guard more by Gohan than he was by Piccolo.

Which makes sense in the context of the story. Saiyan children hitting 710 was already absurd, a child being 1,307 makes absolutely no sense.

Piccolo's ki amp if absurd as well of course, but the child being so strong really jakked him up and perhaps he wasn't expecting what Gohan would do where he knew Piccolo intended to shoot a blast at him.

Damn, I'm having a hard time arguing against SSJ2 point about Raditz using full power to stop the blast...

It's tough. Because AT clearly seems to intend for it considering how high he made the Kamehameha.

It seems that the ki amp is the real problem, and if that's the case, that means the ki blast power is not.

Which can only mean that Goku and Piccolo's power must go up. It's the only option from what I can see.

I think Piccolo can still be surprised by Raditz's speed even if he was full power blocking the blast. It can be treated the same way as Freeza kicking the blast. They saw his power but to see the speed actually match it was still shocking.

Yeah, but how come he doesn’t use full speed to run from Kamehameha?

So he’s suppressed then full power but not full speed versus Kamehameha and then full speed versus SBC?

Him catching it shocks Goku and Goku seems to make a power statement about it. The anime has the blast at 925.

How could Raditz expect a baby to never have forgotten him nor the child's mission? Unless some sort of mind control is used. Didn't Toriyama change the age the anime suggested before?

The anime suggests Goku was a baby, and in later work, AT suggests that Goku is much older, right?

That's why it makes sense for it to be a primal instinct of sorts. Raditz even hints towards it when he chastises Goku for losing his tail, saying that he's fitting in as an earthling. Goku lost his Saiyan instincts when he hit his head.
