When has luffy ever not held back his trump cards though? He'll continually try ineffective attacks long after they're proven useless.

Which shows how much of an idiot Luffy is and how little he's learnt from his past experiences.

And their brief clash at the wedding really doesn't give us any indication of how powerful he really was.

He countered an Elephant Gun with his own punch and gained the advantage. That should be more than enough for Luffy to know anything below G4 would be useless, especially when combined with his precog.

I still don't think that's enough for luffy to really understand his strength or powers. It certainly wasn't enough for us as readers to understand the extent of katakuri's ability.

I think it's interesting that luffy is able to dodge his attacks even with his precog observation haki. Luffy must have some pretty amazing observation haki himself.

Luffy's gone Gear 4th.....something that's come about 5-10 chapters too late for me to care.

So, Katakuri's just someone who puts up a stoic facade and is actually just a glutton like his mother. Not that much of an original twist at this point, considering the arc has constantly been pulling the twist of characters not being as they first appear (Cracker not appearing in his true body at first, Pudding's split personalities, etc.)

Well, at least the fight's actually started to be more than just filler now.

The fight started 4 chapters ago.

Not that going gear 4th was originally effective anyway. Since katakuri just saw it with his observation haki and prevented Luffy from using it. He was only able to use it after figuring out how his observation haki works.

Apparently Luffy found a way to beat Dogtooth. Too bad it'll take another 20 chapters until the fight ends.

I just read 883. I'm having trouble understanding this fight very well. And is Katakuri a fishman? Why does his face look like that?

His mouth seems different from any Fishman we've encountered. I assume it's just a mutation or possibly a side effect of his DF.

I'm hoping we see a new Gear 4th form in this fight. I don't think it would make much sense for Luffy to beat Katakuri with Boundman considering how much trouble he had with Cracker.

I'm hoping G4 has 2 or 3 different forms.

It's possible he's not full fishman.

Yeah i agree luffy has to achieve some sort of new form or power to win this fight. Especially against those crazy powers Katakuri used when he sent Luffy flying at the end. Whether it's a new form of gear 4 or awakening, or even observation to match katakuri (he's already close).

884 was alright.

Luffy was only hitting Katakuri because he was rattled. Now that he's composed, Katakuri was stomping him again. That Observation Haki is haxed.
