Finally current with one piece. It was kind of obvious that Komurasaki is Momonosuke's sister. Still wonder why she deceived those men in marrying her. Maybe considering her actual standing to gather funds for a coup? <shrugs>.

Yea.

This whole thing going on in the prison is such nonsense. Luffy being allowed to use this opportunity as “training” is beyond ridiculous.

New chapter was another slow paced waste of time.

Tonoyasu is revealed to just be nobody special and everyone revealed the plan to him because...he's charismatic? That's terrible writing all for the sake of a gag when considering the stakes involved and the fact that a group of samurai and shinobi should logically be highly secretive and resolute towards their plans. This is an obvious case of Oda trying to keep a lighter tone ongoing despite it clashing highly with the stakes involved in the current story. Paraphrasing what Zoro once said "We're in the New World now. We can't be taking things lightly."

Time's still being wasted on Luffy beating fodder instead of fighting Queen. Also, it really seems unlikely that with the year and a half Rayleigh spent teaching Luffy Haki and even criticising the way Luffy used Gears, he would leave teaching him about this aspect of "letting Haki flow" out of the training when considering how it doesn't seem a rare thing amongst Wano's elite fighters and Rayleigh knew full well Luffy needed to be as prepared as possible for the New World.

Luffy's blind trust in Caribou is yet another example of why Luffy's a terrible character without development. :facepalm

This entire sequence in the prison is just far too convenient. Not only does Luffy find an old, washed up mafia boss - who will teach him what Rayleigh could not in a year...but they will also gain thousands of allies from this prison? All the while, one of Kaido’s top 2 guys is sitting there watching gleefully. It’s just fucking trash tbh.

I had higher expectations for Wano seeing as it has been built up for hundreds of chapters, and tons of major plot events are set to go down...but so far the handling of it has been garbage, save for some decent chapters here and there. Just disappointing. Nothing that Kaido does from this point on will be enough to make up for his god awful crew who have proven to be some of the dumbest villains yet.

Fishman Island is probably the best arc in part 2, which is simply atrocious lmao. Punk Hazard was :trash . Dressrosa was :trash . WCI was disgusting. Wano is trying as hard as it can to be worse than WCI, even though it had potential. Part 2 is 1.5/10 for me.

I'd say that's a bit of an exaggeration, as Dressrosa did at least have more positives to it in terms of plot development and character writing, though I agree that WCI is easily on the same level as FI and Wano is even worse at this point.

So Kanjuro and Shinobu suddenly remember who Tonoyasu is for vague reasons rather than when they met him all for the sake of an unnecessary twist, and not even a good one when it was obvious he was someone of some significance...:facepalm

The Part 2 arcs were terrible already, but now it's apparent Oda has no idea what he's doing with Wano.

Dressrosa ~ Punk Hazard >> Fishmen Island ~ WCI so far to me. This arc is pretty boring thus far but a bit too early to rate it.

Fishman Island is factually the best arc in part 2. Dressrosa is complete cancer.

So is One Piece P2 as bad as P2 Naruto yet?
Its low points aren't quite as bad as Naruto's since there's no betrayal of the series' original premise, deus ex machinas in the vein of Nagato's mass revival at the end of the Pain Arc or major asspulled villains such as Kaguya, plus no arc in Part 2 OP could be completely cut without having to merge elements of it into another arc (unlike the Sai Arc), though I tend to have more positive things to say for Naruto when it comes to Part 2's high points such as Asuma and Jiraiya's deaths being handled well with the former acting as character development for Shikamaru and it probably had better pacing than Part 2 OP due to Dressrosa and WCI bogging that aspect down. I'd probably go with Part 2 OP being marginally better, though probably worse than HnK's 2nd part.

Seems DBZ is probably still the best 2nd part of a Shonen manga despite its flaws, unless counting JoJo, or unless counting the post-Rikiishi events of AnJ as a "Part 2" due to the two separate anime (I personally wouldn't for AnJ though given how it doesn't have a drastic change in tone/focus like that DBZ had to DB).
