So we get a first look at Oden, albeit it’s just his silhouette. He seems like a loser. :cena

Don't even know what the point in hiding him through a silhouette is at this point, unless there's a twist of him being someone we know. Previous silhouettes were fine. When he's in the same angle as the fully lit up Yasuei, however, it makes him just look like he's blacked up. :cena

Rest of the chapter was just average. Yeah, Tonoyasu died (hopefully), but it's not as if we were given much reason to care about him.

Maybe Oden was pure black and that wasn’t a silhouette? :ladd

I really doubt Yasu is dead knowing Oda.

The reason he was originally passed off as choice for Shogun in favour of Sukiyaki was because Wano are racist pigs. :donovan2

I really doubt Yasu is dead knowing Oda.
Probably, though he seems to have become more willing to kill off minor characters after the timeskip such as Monet, Pound and Pedro, unless they're going to magically appear alive and well at some point.

It feels like there hasn't been a OP chapter in a while, but I haven't checked. Hopefully there is a new masterpiece to dissect today. :ladd

The information about Smiles could've been condensed down to 1 page with how simple it is, yet is stretched out to nearly the whole chapter. Not that I'd expect current OP to have even semi-decent pacing at this point though.

And of course we have to get a last moment save for the useless kid character. 'Member when Shonen weren't afraid to kill off children to help show the dangers within a world of superpowered beings? I 'member Hokuto no Ken, and would be satisfied tenfold re-reading it for about the fifth or sixth time more so than reading the current OP chapters.

Reading through it right now. Why was this information about Smile fruits not divulged earlier?

Very. Mediocre chapter. Don’t have much to add to what you’ve said, CC. Hopefully next chapter at least provides something entertaining. These filler chapters that require 15 pages to accomplish nothing are getting old.

Did you like to see Zoro and Sanji back?

That was the first time they met each other since Dressrosa iirc.

Not going to comment on that until the next chapter. At this point, their interaction has been meaningless lol.

Couldn't care one way or the other when their character dynamic has been stale since the timeskip and Sanji's wasted potential in the previous arc leaves little interest left in his character.

New chapter cover advertises the new OP movie. Guess it's going to be yet another waste of time that just has a bunch of flashy cameos rather than actually doing something to properly expand the series.

As for the chapter, yet another mediocrity. The battle in the streets wasn't bad, but it's yet another case of Marineford syndrome of having loads of characters start a battle which likely won't have any major impact on the plot just yet.
Seeing Sanji get cucked by Zoro was funny. Less so in the sense of a gag being successfully done and more so for how much of a joke Sanji's characterisation has been since the timeskip.
At least the prison plot line seems to have been concluded (thus showing how much of a waste of time it was), though Queen is now an absolute retard. Losing all common sense and taking on a Yonko for wanting your favourite food despite shaking in fear moments prior? What excellent characterisation...:cena

944 was hilariously bad. On to 945. I’m hoping Big Mom eats everyone in the manga and then it can end.

So, Wano's Den Den Mushi system has a gaping flaw that anyone with an ounce of common sense would try to fix as to not send the country into disarray, Luffy continues to act with the intelligence of a lobotomised 2 year old and we're doubling-down on this new system of him naturally being able to become far stronger through just fighting an opponent because plot armour.

The "quality" of Part 2 OP, everyone. :facepalm

Guessing Amnesiac Big Mom wasn't able to utilise her power properly if Queen wasn't KO'd. Still, Base Luffy taking a direct hit from her enraged self and Hyogoro surviving it are still some major plot armouring.
And Big Mom's got her memories back, thus proving what a waste of time her amnesia arc was. You could have had it so that she was merely fatigued from her experience washing up ashore and her capture would still happen with far less time wasted on a temporary character rewrite, not to mention how unrealistic it is that blunt force to the head conveniently reverts her memory loss, because that's totally how amnesia works...:cena

How've the last few arcs been? I have an idea from this page alone but a concise breakdown would be cool.

Pretty shit, like most things from the timeskip. As far as a more detailed analysis, I pointed out most of the major problems for the previous arcs in pages 3-4 of this thread: http://www.dbzeta.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=12202

As for the current arc, the short analysis would be that we've had Luffy being as dumb and static as ever, absolutely dumb or inconsistent character decisions all around, overly predictable plot twists, Kaido's crew being inconceivably incompetent for a Yonko crew and putting in place a pointless amnesia plot line of all things. Also, it's damaged further by such major events as the Revolutionaries taking on the Blackbeard Pirates and later World Government being glossed over as off-screen events in favour of showing overly drawn out events in Wano.

The Reverie was OK for the mini-arc it was, though was damaged by overall just being mystery-bait rather than bringing about many major revelations.
