Isn't he just confirming that he used Rokushiki?

I thought he used it after Rankyaku. Jinbe's attack was nullified which made him ask about Tekkai.

Jinbei's attack didn't get nullified. It was WsW's attack. I'm reading the fight and I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to.

Maybe I read it wrong. It looked like Jinbe punched with Haki when WW used Rankyaku. I figured that WW is able to use Tekkai while in motion like Jabra was able to which is why Jinbe was puzzled after that attack.

Looks like Jinbe won his fight. Can't say that I was a fan of any of WW's backstory. It felt contrived and unnecessary to give him a link to Jinbe. Also the fact that Jinbe beats him before we can understand what he was even talking about made it all that much worse.

So you think they're connected? Idk, Jinbe goes out of his way to differentiate the six powers from other techniques we already know of.

It could be that he's using it defensively while using Haki offensively. His hands were also coloured black when he used finger pistol which looked like regular Busoshoku.

Either that or Oda is colouring it black now to distinguish when it's in use. Haki itself is invisible according to Rayleigh.

To me that's kind of overthinking it a bit, I don't think Oda would make it that confusing to suddenly have Tekkai look exactly like CoA all of a sudden despite being different things.

Worth pointing out that Jinbei last chapter in the Viz translation says ''should I call this Tekkai'' when he clouded his arm in Buso Haki.

I just don't see why the world government would give such a basic power its own name when the majority of them are Haki users. Why would they call it Rokushiki if it was Haki all along? Why didn't Lucci or and of CP9 have black bodies when using Tekkai? Tekkai was said to be hardening your body physically while Haki was applying an invibile armor to the body. I just can't see them being the same after they've both had distinct explanations about what makes them different.

That could be because they have nearly identical effects, to be fair.

Rokushiki techniques might be budget Haki or something. Not quite as good but has the basic principles of it. Idk, hopefully Oda will explain it in better detail cause it's pretty confusing tbh. Haki is generally confusing even after 10 years of it's introduction so it's par for the course I guess.

The vive card book didn't help when it claimed that Lucci strengthened his Rokushiki with Haki over the timeskip - or something to that effect.

It'd make sense for Rokushiki to be a precursor to Haki in many ways. Tekkai and Shigan are essentially just lesser Busoshoku and Haki training allowed for several characters to replicate Rokushiki such as Sanji's Blue Walk.

The main issue that I have with it is that Rokushiki is about physically enhancing your body through training. Haki is literally your willpower that manifests in some sort of spiritual power. They provide similar benefits but aren't really close to being the same. I can see Rokushiki training also increasing Haki as general training might do. I just can't view them as being related directly.

It may be that the similar results from different training regimes is due to Rokushiki being an imperfect attempt at enhancing the body compared to Haki. Focusing on the physical without training the mental/spiritual side may have been why most Rokushiki techniques come off as inferior to what an adept Haki user can accomplish. The only thing that would directly suggest the link between them being thin is Garp training Koby and Helmeppo in Rokushiki rather than Haki, though that could easily be due to the latter being far more difficult to learn for a beginner.

@Future Warrior just thought of something. Isn't it possible that WW is using Haki and Rokushiki combined? The Vivre Card guides claim that every CP9 member gained Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku during the 2 year gap. I'd be shocked if Lucci's "rival" also didn't possess it.

So maybe it's not that they are one in the same, but they can be used in conjunction with one another.
