Correct me if I'm wrong, but the prophesy says that Wano should be opened before the day Joyboy returns. It never said that Joyboy himself will defeat Kaido and open the borders.

We'll see how it plays out I guess. I don't like the idea of having a set in stone destiny but it's better than him being a reincarnation of Joyboy or Roger or some BS.

Well I'm just pointing out that there are two parts to this prophecy. 1 is what we hear from the Sea Kings regarding the 2 sovereigns that will be born in the future. 2 is what we hear directly from Oden regarding the war that will occur and that the people participating in this war will strike down Kaido. That part almost certainly has to be about Luffy.

And don't forget that Whitebeard made it clear that Roger was waiting for a D to appear - which wasn't Blackbeard. That's almost certainly Luffy as well which Oda made clear here:

So as much as I hope it doesn't happen, it seems like Luffy will be inheriting Roger's will and will follow the prophecy.

Why would Kaido even know of Joyboy? One can only find out about him by reading poneglyphs.

If Roger's whole crew could decipher them through "hearing their voices", I wouldn't say it's out of the question for Kaido to at least decipher the Joy Boy part. That, and Joy Boy is known by some residents of Fishman Island such as Neptune by enough it could reach Kaido's ears under the right contacts over time.

I thought Roger stated that he couldn't read them but was only able to discern their location through the voice of all things. Oden was the one who read the poneglyphs.

Rayleigh stated in Sabaody they could discern what the Poneglyphs said through the voice of all things, so either they could make out a rough idea of what they said and needed Oden to give 100% clarification or it's a pretty egregious retcon.

As far as I'm aware, it's yet to be revealed if there's any sort of exclusivity on who can hear the voice of all things.
Looking back on it though, Rayleigh specifies Roger was able to hear it rather than anyone else on the crew, so I retract that part about Roger's crew.

So far all we know who have it are Roger, Oden, Luffy, and Momo. Probably has something to do with D clan and Kozuki family being a major part of the Void Century. Although I don't recall Trafalgar Law being able to hear Zunesha.
