It’s not like every swinging dick in the world knows it’s the Nika fruit. We don’t even know if Luffy is aware.
The WG literally perverted its name to make it sound like a fairly run of the mill Paramecia fruit lol.

Regarding the fruit, I think Shanks was keeping or hiding it or something and was angry when Luffy ate it. So I think Oda had something planned for the fruit since then. But no one of the marines seemed shocked when they saw Luffy with that fruit. Not even the highest and most important ones like Kizaru, Akainu, Sengoku, Garp. Were the Gororsei the only ones aware of the fruit's secret? But shouldn't they have already known Luffy had the fruit from way back? I guess Burgess was after it in Dressorsa's final scenes saying it was specially valuable which was when Oda really thought of what special nature he'd give it IMO.

Plus if this chapter were released on 1st April I'd seriously think Oda was trolling us with Buggy yonko :king

I’m really not surprised about Buggy. It’s not like Kidd and Law could share one spot.

I guess you could argue that the Gorosei want to minimize the rise of Luffy, but he's already considered a Yonko and Kid/Law aren't. Makes no sense. Plus Buggy being made a Yonko now :cena

I don't know why they'd minimize the rise of Luffy.

It'd weaken the WG's credibility if the adoptive brother of Ace (whom they painted as Roger's scumbag, crimelord son) is becoming such a massive threat that his forces rival the WG in power, since that's more or less the bar a Yonko has to meet when a heavily weakened Whitebeard and his forces destroyed half of Marineford and fought multiple admirals to a standstill. However, it's still not fooling anyone since there's no way Law and Kidd even come close to rivaling Yonko on their own

Because he is a D and also Joyboy. They don't want the public learning of his existence and gaining hope that the government could be overthrown.

Idgaf about Luffy’s bounty. Kid and Law is the most retarded aspect of it. They had to team up on Big Mom, resort to dropping her into a hole, and drop bombs on her just to beat her. Not to mention, they possess no territory, and their crew mates combined are a joke compared to the Straw Hats. Luffy literally has >5,000 people willing to fight for him.

Seriously, 3 billion bounty and his 1st mate is fucking Bepo the polar bear? This is literally just Oda’s excuse to have Law and Kid still remain Luffy’s rival even though they are nothing to him in all aspects as a pirate. It’s forced.

In fairness bounties for Yonko are pretty meaningless when you'd get 1000x the profits from usurping their position than by turning them in to the WG

It shouldn't matter to them. You don't make it less of a risk by minimizing it.

I agree it's a bit incongruous with them labeling Luffy a fifth emperor a few dozen chapters back. Different situations different reaxtions I suppose.

They made him a Yonko and still took a picture of him as Ninka. Strange way to hide his big ass importance.

It's weird they don't use a more heinous wanted poster for Luffy, and used his most goofy looking form (which he can barely maintain)

Roger was also a D and had the biggest bounty. Dragon is also a D and is the most wanted criminal. If anything, being a D would already be a reason to treat him as such with the bounties. And they knew Luffy was a D ever since his introduction and yet he got bounties higher than the enemies he defeated. Plus, Law is also a D and got a bounty as high as Luffy. That and making him a Yonko plus the Ninka picture doesn't make much sense with trying not to up his bounty higher.

These pointless debates don’t matter. We all agree that One Piece has become garbage, what is there to discuss?

Yeah but even with that they had the entire world believing Roger's name was Gold Roger to hide that he was a D. Also I don't think the government knows that Law is a D. However I'm not sure that the government is the one who determines the Yonko. Isn't it written out in Morgans' paper? Luffy was already established to be the 5th Emperor even though the government didn't view him as one. The Nika picture wasn't meant to be used as can be seen by the reaction of the Gorosei.

Well, I think back then the D wasn't as well known, so they could afford to hide it. Luffy's D was written ever since he got his first bounty and they never made a case to hide it. Blackbeard has his full name revealed too, as well as Dragon. Regarding the Yonko's being chosen, that may be true, but I think the point stands that Luffy would stick out all the same. He's seen by everyone as a Yonko, having a D and all that, so I don't see the reason to hide his importance even more so. I think hiding someone's importance via bounties goes in the opposite way the WG has operated, like seen when they put a very high bounty on Robin when she was just 8 despite she being the survivor of Ohara and possessing an ability that could shake their structures.
