It's bizarre. Because that was a big moment for Vegeta, and yet Super ignores it.

The Kanzeban version of the manga seems to ignore Vegeta's development as well with him still being driven to surpass Goku during the last chapter, so I guess it's just the typical case of an author regressing their character's development so they don't lose the trait that makes them a caricature, much as how Toriyama, Toyotaro and Toei are all united in their quest to make Goku just a battle hungry idiot or Yamcha nothing more than a jabroni meme.
