Manga is terrible... it somehow managed to be worse than the anime imo. This is just... too bad.

Read the new chapter. I thought it was terrible, but a better end than the anime. Freeza and No.17 having planned that whole thing came off as a lot better than Freeza kissing Goku's ass and No.17 just randomly surviving his explosion in the anime.

Belmod having a relationship with Jiren's master and Jiren not flipping out and attacking the spectators was a big plus.

Great chapter but I just don't like the ending of the tournament. Making Belmod/17/18 like coldblood with no emotion at all. Also interesting thing we just learned that the gods cannot revive someone that has been killed by a demon? That's something.

I'm excited for the next arc. They're gonna reveal more stuff about Daikaioh which should be interesting enough.

Pretty sure that was intended to be more of a relative statement. "He's just about as strong as us" doesn't necessitate anything other than #17 being in the super strong category like the Saiyans rather than low tier garbage like the humans still. We already saw his performance and it wasn't Blue tier.

Gr9 chapter. Tops the anime for sure. Liked everything about that better. It even managed to capture some high-level epicness despite only being still images.

So, this chapter...

- Fleshed of Belmod's character more than the anime ever attempted.
- Plugged the plot hole of #17 still being able to self-destruct.
- Made Freeza far less of an idiot than his initial attacks of Jiren seemed to suggest.
- Didn't make it apparent :fearless would've only accepted benevolent wishes that would've made the ToP even more pointless overall if following this route.

Overall, despite being , the manga version of this arc was still far better written than the anime.

#17's Ki is artificial though, so it's highly unlikely he could use it for self-destruction. It seems very doubtful Gero would include such a risky feature.

Eh, Cell was born with the feature (and didn't seem that obedient to Gero when he barely cared about killing Goku) and the cyborgs can do just about anything else that the other fighters can do using ki (like using a kienzan) so it shouldn't be impossible imo.

Cell's Ki isn't artificial though and his regeneration makes up for it. Yes, he wasn't aware he'd survive, though that can just be seen as an oversight on his part and not Gero's.

Regardless of whether or not #17 could self-destruct, he still made it apparent in the anime it was through his bomb iirc, so a plot hole nonetheless.
