Necessary to elevate the power of Gon and Killua I suppose, but it was portly executed.

Finished Chinera Ant arc. The climax was good, but I felt there was so much unnecessary shit in this arc. Why were Gon and Killua fighting peons for so many chapters? The arc seemed to drag on for fucking ever, but the climax does make it somewhat worth it. Still hate slow fillery parts in a long arc.

I thought Chimera Ants was one of the best arcs already made in Shonen history, with its ending being kept consistent to the entire arc's taken. I didn't find it bad by any means, really, and Meruem's farewell upon playing -- and losing -- Komugi again was good in many ways.

It's also one of the few arcs CC rated as an 8, so there's that

Indeed. The conclusion it had to Meruem's character development was superb as was the themes of humanity it conveyed. Only things I didn't like about it's later stages were the Rose Bomb being an asspull and Meruem's amnesia being a cheap way to drag out the plot, but even those seem like minor flaws compared to the positives it provided.

Peons like who? It was a bit like Marineford, where until Gon went weirdo they were out of their league.

I liked having all the varied fighting mindsets and abilities, from Knuckle and Morel to the likes of Knov and that other guy who was Knuckle's friend.

Greed Island's climax was okay. The first 75% of the arc felt like such a drag to read. The arc's only purpose seemed to be making Gon and Killua stronger, which I don't think warrants ~60 chapters. It felt like filler imo.
