KP made a good point on neoseeker. GT actually did a decent job at staying consistent with the manga, at least in some aspects. Why is it that Toei's next attempt at continuing the manga has flopped so horribly in terms of consistency? Is it because Toriyama is involved?

Probably Tori's attitude about the whole business and his tendency to make up all kinds of bullshit about his new favorite character (Beerus).

He retroactively ruined (maybe a slight exaggeration) the entire Freeza arc with one line of dialog.

Yea I would have preferred that no one knew of Beerus. Having Freeza and Vegeta know of him kind of kills it for me. Elder Kaioshin, ok we can make that work. But not even Kaioshin should know, let alone Kaio.

Well Toei is widely considered the worst animation studio in Japan. Everything they've animated has flopped in quality... Even One Piece, which was their best adaptation.

Toei's making everything all about Goku and Vegeta while yes they are arguably the 2 most popular characters of the series or at least in the top 5 but they're other characters besides those 2 who were major assets in the past like: Piccolo, Gohan, the brats/Gotenks now they've been nerfed to where they seemingly get taken out much easier than Goku or Vegeta (although Piccolo was nerfed long before these God movies). Whole thing is why I prefer DBZ to have just stayed dead. Vegeta is my favorite character of the entire series and Goku is #3 but if they're the only 2 who are going to be doing anything relevant or at least somewhat note worthy than I don't want to watch it. That's one of the major reasons why GT failed: Because Goku and to a lesser extent Vegeta are the only ones doing something and everyone else is just there because they're there.

In a nutshell, Toei is trying to appease its fans really well. Ironically, that means it's trying to appeal to fans who just want to see more explosions, rather than understanding the plot.

In other words, Toei is pretty much all explosions, and no plot.

Geez, even the Old Toei was better than this!
