Was Goku serious against Nam?

I find the Daizenshuu disgusting sometimes. But I really don't care too much (or not at all) with the Daiz, specially since it didn't come from Toriyama. I see it as just "another fan's opinion". Namu was keeping up in hand to hand combate pretty well with Son Goku, so I'd rather go with it.

All befor his fight with Goku. He didn't say anything like that after-ward really.

Goku exceeded expectations, where am I arguing this? Roshi never underestimates Goku's battle power within their actual fight, just his durability and ability to be a nuisance.
