Did Future Trunks get stronger during the Android Saga?

I think that trunks didn't get stronger. I think the only times anyone got particularly strong was through intense train somewhere than earth or fusing or something. He's probably the same till the hyperbolic time chamber. Who knows.

It doesn't, because he still didn't get his ass kicked as much in the future as he did in the present.

That's your interpretation...if that was the case, Trunks would say: "Compared to these Androids, I could fight the future ones fairly well", but he didn't. He only said he could fight them fairly well and there's no such subjectiveness in "fairly well"- it means a non-ass kick gap.

He can fight them RELATIVELY fairly well in comparison to just getting two shot by one android alone.

Again, assumption. Like I said, if that was the case he would say: "Compared to these Androids, I could fight the future ones fairly well" or something like that. He didn't say "RELATIVELY" as well. Trunks just meant he could fight the Androids of his time fairly well, while 3 years ago he was hugely weaker than them. Don't get more simple than that.

Not to say future Gohan SSJ (1 arm) was not that above less than half future #17 and future Trunks SSJ (age 17) wasn't that above than future Gohan SSJ (1 arm), making him at most at ~60% of future #17, so he obviously couldn't fight them fairly well, even when compared with the present ones. That's the same gap as between Ginyus and Goku [bursts].

Still messing around with the idea of Trunks fighting the Androids again. After looking at a few more things, it's really starting to look like he fought them more than once. I was able to get a translation of the line from EmmaWinters (Superb translator on Kanzenshuu/Reddit) to get a better look:

Viz: "Still alive, Trunks? I think the world "fool" has just been redefined:
EmmaWinters Translation: "What, you're still alive, Trunks? Nevertheless, no other fool [dabbles in] futile endeavors as well as you do."

Her translation sounds similar to what smurf said. With that, it does look like there was more than one encounter.
