Well, the same Vegeta said he's also above Gohan. Unless Goku assumed Vegeta was being delusional there, logically he'd assume Vegeta was also a Super Saiyan 2. I doubt he'd believe Super Saiyan Vegeta could handle Super Saiyan 2 Gohan.

Goku assuming Vegeta being delusional about it doesn't seem farfetched to me.

Gohan: “Dad, am I going to get in the way of your training?”
Goku: “At first, yeah. But once you’re able to become a Super Saiyan, you’ll really come in handy as a training partner, Gohan. That’s my ideal, anyway. Obviously I intend to obtain power surpassing Super Saiyan. I want to be stronger than anyone, after all. But Gohan, I intend for you to even further surpass me.”

Does this statement implies Gohan was stronger than Base Goku Pre Rosat? Goku saying he wants Gohan to further surpass him strongly implies Gohan has already surpassed him.

I think it's just worded sloppily. Gohan being stronger than Goku at the Cell Games came as a big shock to everybody which would be kind of odd if he already surpassed Goku pre-RoSaT.

Maybe he meant that if in the future, Gohan surpassed Goku in terms of power, it would mean that Goku could progress faster in his training, by training with someone more powerful than him.

I don't think we were given any numbers other than the total amount of people that Cell has absorbed iirc.

  I do not remember where I read many years ago that Cell absorbed 15,000 people in Jinger and then absorbed 600,000 people.

Why are Goku and Vegeta so impressed that Kaioshin can one shot Freeza? I mean they can do that too. And it's kind of a "No shit" kind of thing to say when they already know Piccolo is fodder to him.
