To be fair, Non-Canon Broly, whilst poorly written, is at least consistent in his motivations. Super Broly makes it apparent he hates his father, yet Paragus' death triggers him enough to get a godly power boost.

Also, Z Broly's power makes more sense when considering he was attacking planets for quite a few years, or even decades, leading to a more gradual progression. Canon Broly goes from mediocrity to stomping God Ki users just because of one rage boost.

It's never made apparent that Super Broly hates Paragus; he objects to Cheelai badmouthing him in fact. It's implied he has Stockholm Syndrome for his abusive father if anything. The rest of your analysis is true though, Broly goes from weaker than base Vegeta (which is still above anything in Z, tbf) to above a SSJB in a few hours through one character death.

Yeah that boost was so ridiculous. I wouldn't have a problem if they put his SSjin form around SSjinB tiers but putting him around a Hakaishin tier was again ridiculous.

Tori and Toei probably were aware about DBM Broly. :troll :toei

I just finished watching it & I have to say I like Z-Broly more.

Z-Broly's insanity & just flat out hatred of Goku which made Z-Broly more fearsome & threatening.
Didn't like how Super turned him innocent & good person, that was just Blah but understandable since he's already outclass by Angels, GodsOfDestruction, etc.

The thing I don't like about Z Broly is that what was his reason against Goku? They don't have any history other than that Goku disturbed him while he was sleeping hence why Broly gets a lot of hate.

That's what I'd liked about him, the no decent reason for justified hatred & that made him terrifying.
That to me said no matter who you are no matter what you have done or will do I simply hate you because you exist & will destroy everything & anything just to wipe you out.
OMG I FREAKIN LOVED THAT!
lol.

I just finish the movie and.....

Pros

- The first 15-20 minutes of being on Planet Vegeta
- Bardock and Gine. I loved seeing them interact, even if it was for just a few minutes
- Broly (I can't stand Z Broly, but Super Broly was just too precious with how socially awkward he was)
- Vegeta showing his softer side
- The animation at times was beautiful
- Vegeta vs. Broly (Until Goku stepped in, I was enjoying this fight and really the best fight of the movie)
- Gogeta officially appearing in the Dragonball Canon and him stomping Broly
- The two aliens Broly befriend, I liked the both of them and feel they'd take care of Broly better than Paragus did.

Cons

- Piccolo was pointless. He was just there to help Goku teach Vegeta the fusion dance. Goku in Fusion Reborn did that by himself, and even so if Vegeta knew about Gotenks/saw Goten and Trunks form him, than he should know the steps by now
- Frieza wants the Dragonballs to be a mere 2 inches taller? Why you gotta turn one of the best (if not THE BEST) DBZ villains into a joke like that? That's some simple minded stuff I wouldn't expect from Frieza.
- The use of CG was distracting and the CG was UGLY at times
- The animation really turned me off at some points
- Gogeta vs. Broly was a disappointment. Now I was honestly expecting Gogeta to stomp Broly, I was fully ready to say SSJin Blue Gogeta > SSJin Gogeta > LSSJin Broly > Base Gogeta > SSJin Broly (which I would still have no problem with), but the actual fight itself wasn't as exciting as I hoped. 12-13 year old me would've mouthwatered over a Gogeta vs. Broly fight and if this was the result I would've been even more disappointed than what I am now.

- I like Broly's character this time around and feel it's MASSIVE improvement over his Z-Counterpart, but his power is WILDLY inconsistent

First Broly is at a clear disadvantage against BASE Vegeta, SSJ Vegeta initially has a bigger advantage, but Broly somehow overpowers SSJin Vegeta, than overpowers SSJin Red Vegeta and repeats the process with Goku and fights evenly or is at a slight disadvantage against SSJin Blue Goku!? I get Vegeta's line of "Broly learning how to fight as he fights" but I would figure that means fighting SKILL not POWER. Than after Paragus dies he ascends to SSJ and somehow access LSSJin or a similar form and outclasses Goku, Vegeta, and Freeza, than can somewhat challenge SSJin Gogeta?

The movie's power chain seriously seemed like

SSJ Blue Gogeta > LSSJ Broly = SSJ Gogeta > Base Gogeta = SSJ Broly > SSJ Blue Goku >= Wrathful Broly > Base Broly > SSJ Red Vegeta > SSJ Vegeta > Base Vegeta > Base Broly

Where is this power coming from? If Broly is utilizing the power of Oozaru in Base Form, I'd expect the traditional 10x increase and even so, that shouldn't be enough to overwhelm even SSJin Goku and Vegeta, that's just unbelievably inconsistent.

-Most of all, this movie felt RUSHED at times which became more evident in the final act of the movie.

This movie definitely wasn't worth the hype. The only thing that people hype this movie up for is Gogeta and Broly and that's it really.

Only saw clips and heard synopsises. Not paying to see this and I'll wait until Kissanime has a high quality stream to watch.

The movie tries to justify it with Broly having trained with Paragus for years.

It already does, that's where I watched it (Unless you mean the Jap. Dub, Funimation had a good quality on KissAnime).

4.2k Paragus' regime must be as effective as Roshi's Manly GAINZ. :troll

Broly got a lot of practise not killing Paragus in one hit. It would explain how he didn't kill base Goku in a single hit too. :donovan3

Just watched this and surprisingly was not disappointed. In-fact way surpassed any hype possible. This is the closest DragonBall will ever get to a 10/10 movie. They always tried to do an epic story before but I always thought it was hopeless because films are too short. That's why people enjoyed Movie 12 and Battle of Gods because those were just light stories with no particular epicness but this movie did that unlike anything I saw before. Animation was on-point. Canon Broly is incomparable to the garbage old Broly.

The back-story was done really good. First time since I think the classic era that I actually cared to see about Saiyan history again. This made me interested in that again. With only modern Goku & Vegeta around I sort-of lost all interest in that until now again.

Also I don't see why they kept calling Paragus bad. He did kill Beets but that was because they didn't have enough food, so I guess you can call that a mercy killing, l0l since he wouldn't have given him anything anyway. He clearly cares for Broly like saying he has to save Broly, saying "my Broly" will die or something like that, screaming for Broly to stop when he thought Vegeta was going to kill him. Even the device was said to only be very light electric, so I guess he didn't want to hurt Broly as much as just do as much to just get him calm. If he really was sadistic he wouldn't have cared. He also seemed to have a sense of dignity to him (probably not the right word) like telling those two Freeza force people that he was grateful that they rescued them but to mind their own business.

Also the speed was amazing. I myself could barely keep-up but when you pause at any given moment the animation is clear as day.

The animation was great with the exception of Gogeta/Broly in that dimension thing where both looks like a video game or something lol.

It's kinda funny to go back and see those that pre-judged this to be bad.
Nope! Great film!
Seen it 4 times during it's theatre run.

I also like how Whis went with them and left Bills. It was like he was joined at the hip with him, like Goten & Trunks. They finally let him do his own thing for once, let him be his own character and not just be Bills' side-piece ( :donovan :donovan :donovan ).

Whis basically did nothing and had zero screen time in this film. He was less of a character than he was with Beerus. :zorc
