I just finish the movie and.....
Pros
- The first 15-20 minutes of being on Planet Vegeta
- Bardock and Gine. I loved seeing them interact, even if it was for just a few minutes
- Broly (I can't stand Z Broly, but Super Broly was just too precious with how socially awkward he was)
- Vegeta showing his softer side
- The animation at times was beautiful
- Vegeta vs. Broly (Until Goku stepped in, I was enjoying this fight and really the best fight of the movie)
- Gogeta officially appearing in the Dragonball Canon and him stomping Broly
- The two aliens Broly befriend, I liked the both of them and feel they'd take care of Broly better than Paragus did.
Cons
- Piccolo was pointless. He was just there to help Goku teach Vegeta the fusion dance. Goku in Fusion Reborn did that by himself, and even so if Vegeta knew about Gotenks/saw Goten and Trunks form him, than he should know the steps by now
- Frieza wants the Dragonballs to be a mere 2 inches taller? Why you gotta turn one of the best (if not THE BEST) DBZ villains into a joke like that? That's some simple minded stuff I wouldn't expect from Frieza.
- The use of CG was distracting and the CG was UGLY at times
- The animation really turned me off at some points
- Gogeta vs. Broly was a disappointment. Now I was honestly expecting Gogeta to stomp Broly, I was fully ready to say SSJin Blue Gogeta > SSJin Gogeta > LSSJin Broly > Base Gogeta > SSJin Broly (which I would still have no problem with), but the actual fight itself wasn't as exciting as I hoped. 12-13 year old me would've mouthwatered over a Gogeta vs. Broly fight and if this was the result I would've been even more disappointed than what I am now.
- I like Broly's character this time around and feel it's MASSIVE improvement over his Z-Counterpart, but his power is WILDLY inconsistent
First Broly is at a clear disadvantage against BASE Vegeta, SSJ Vegeta initially has a bigger advantage, but Broly somehow overpowers SSJin Vegeta, than overpowers SSJin Red Vegeta and repeats the process with Goku and fights evenly or is at a slight disadvantage against SSJin Blue Goku!? I get Vegeta's line of "Broly learning how to fight as he fights" but I would figure that means fighting SKILL not POWER. Than after Paragus dies he ascends to SSJ and somehow access LSSJin or a similar form and outclasses Goku, Vegeta, and Freeza, than can somewhat challenge SSJin Gogeta?
The movie's power chain seriously seemed like
SSJ Blue Gogeta > LSSJ Broly = SSJ Gogeta > Base Gogeta = SSJ Broly > SSJ Blue Goku >= Wrathful Broly > Base Broly > SSJ Red Vegeta > SSJ Vegeta > Base Vegeta > Base Broly
Where is this power coming from? If Broly is utilizing the power of Oozaru in Base Form, I'd expect the traditional 10x increase and even so, that shouldn't be enough to overwhelm even SSJin Goku and Vegeta, that's just unbelievably inconsistent.
-Most of all, this movie felt RUSHED at times which became more evident in the final act of the movie.
This movie definitely wasn't worth the hype. The only thing that people hype this movie up for is Gogeta and Broly and that's it really.
