The Masenko has a pretty shit boost. It's power level was only 2800, despite coming from a guy stronger than Piccolo, who I can't imagine having a power level much lower than 2300.

Maybe Gohan improved the technique since. Didn't they train for a bit in the ship on their way to Namek?

He image trained with Kuririn, though I don't know if that can help you improve ki blasts and whatnot.

Well, Ghan had trouble keeping up with the Saibamen in the last arc because of his shitty ki sensing, but he seems to have no trouble with that in the next arc, so he must have improved maybe a little bit I guess.

I think that'd be a pseudo-zenkai like Goku post-Muscle Tower at best. Gohan only took like 2 days to recover in the hospital while Goku was given like 4 months to recover until he ate that Senzu.
