Because Black is still used to Goku's body hence he's evolving in off-screen unlike the manga version where they explained everything.

So Black is getting stronger because his body is evolving? Does that mean his battle power is constantly on the rise or something?

He gets stronger whenever he gets beaten up.

So just normal Saiyan biology then. Okay. Still, he didn't get beaten up that much from the first fight with Goku to push him up to god level. I guess they're milking the old zenkai boost for everything it's worth.

The problem is that the Zenkai boost only works when a Saiyan is revived from the brink of death which isn't exactly the case in the anime but the manga got it right.

Lol, Black was nowhere near the brink of death in that first fight with Goku.

The manga and anime have two different mentalities with regards to Blacks power but they both have the same end game: he gains access to more and more of Goku's power. In the manga, it's classic Namek Zenkai power-ups whereas the anime has him evolve the more he fights strong people, preferably Goku, since that makes him get strong faster. The manga fucks it up because Trunks apparently beat Black a lot but never managed to kill him (nor did he sense Zamasu coming to heal him a million times) whereas the anime gives Black some weird ass healing factor where he can instantly recover from damage because fuck you and your logic seeking.

Better late then never. Turns out I will have more free time than expected so let's see how far I can take this. It's been a while so give me a few episodes to get back into the swing of things.

:faggots

Episode 13: I title this one "Ain't my ring cool?"

Black says he stole the time ring. He and Zamasu attack Goku, Vegeta and Trunks. Goku blows Zamasu's face off, but no effect. Little more of the Zamasu/Black backstory. They are deeply in love and want to fuck. Boners were touching during that hug. Again, they want to kill all mortals. k.

More Black history month, he uses the Super Dragon Balls, takes Goku's body. After this information it makes me wonder why the story behind Black was treated like some random episode of Murder She Wrote, everyone tried to crack the case. No one got it.

Black stabs Goku, through Zamasu, who seems to love it. Then, Galu gets enraged. He takes on both enemies and lays a few minutes of smackdown. :rock

Then Black says HOL UP! YOU BE SAIYAN I GET GAINZ WHENEVER I WANT? And puts and end to Goku's assault. But then...holy shit Trunks loses his mind and turns nuclear. His SSJ2 get's clearly established to be on god level. It's one of the cooler power ups I've seen in the series so far. But taken into context it's certainly of the asspull territory in the highest regard. :galu When really, there's no amount of rage that should get him anywhere close to that god level. Maybe it ties into Vegeta's rage boost, but even that wasn't as much of a jump as what we see here.

Episode 14: This stupid theme song is still kind of catchy tho. :galu :galu :galu

Trunks comes out swinging and fights evenly with black. But then he deflects a blast from Black and Zamasu. Trunks gets the upper hand. But Black has taken minimal damage in the end. The two enemies go back to dominating.

On second thought, I don't mind Trunk's asspull SSJ2 as much as I would him getting another lazy AT/TOEI color swap. Then it wears off pretty quick, so I guess it can be compared to Vegeta's rage boost and not much really came of it. I'll give it a pass because it was visually entertaining in the most childish way.

The heroes have to retreat and come back to present timeline, asses smacked. Trunks stays behind and Bloomers is furious at Beerus. Vegeta tosses galu to the ground like :trash and I got a chucked out of that. Beerus doesn't care.

Lots of exposition.

Piccolo finally suggests the Mafuba. Cool. :sure I think that's an interesting thing to throw in instead of a power up. I doubt it will finish the job, but we will see. Can that thing even hold Zamasu?

Goku practices on Kame turtle. :sad This poor thing didn't deserve it.

Episode 15:

Bulma fixes the time machine.

Vegeta destroys the RoSaT after training inside.

Trunks recovers, eats a bean. At Black's hideout? I didn't think this was really his style. Mai is running black ops in the hopes of doing Black in with a headshot? A magic bullet to make JFK green with envy I suppose. She takes the shot and makes it, or so I thought typing this, but turns out it grazed Black's earing. He seems to treat this like a legitimate threat by his reaction. Trunks shows up to save the day. AUSSJ2 is all he needs.

Zamasu is a creep sometimes. Trunks battles them, and his sword holds up pretty well. Then he Galic Guns the absolute shit out of Black. Everything with just Trunks I really don't mind. Almost wish it had just been him in the Future battling these guys with minimal help from the main time line.

To be fair, Trunks does run out of energy quick and states he only has one good attack left. Self destruct. Black foils, still taking only minor damage from the last attack.

The time machine shows up. Black blows it up. Vegeta and Goku step up to fight. We learn Whis is an angel. Sure. Vegeta dominates Black. I guess he had, what, six month or a year in there? He was still able to take a beating from Black before so he wasn't exactly one-shot material before this.

Vegeta should be the strongest fighter there at this point then, right, since Galu did not train during this time.

Episode 16:

Vegeta continues dominating Black. He blasts Black in the middle of a speech. Worth another laugh. Then Black realizes that anger makes him stronger? He just decides to be angry then and gets high end ass pull power ups. He's got nothing to be angry about. I guess he hurts himself when he makes his scythe, but that's pain, not anger. This isn't the dark side.

Black then slices a fucking whole in the universe! What! :alex2

Black just powered himself up like it was the mother of all cheat codes, and he opened a portal to hell with one swing. And this is something that leaves Vegeta stunned so I am left to assume this feat is even far and away from standard god power.

Black uses multiform. Or that smog power from Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans. This stuff also blocks Goku's IT. Meanwhile, Trunks practices the Mafuba. So of course this has to lead to cringe comedic poses as he gets it right.

Zamasu finds Bloomers so she tries seducing him. :ladd

Trunks arrives and uses the Mafuba. It actually works. I thought Zamasu might resist. His scream while being sucked in was money.

Of course they forgot the paper amulet. :rumoosh

That's gay. Would have been cool if they locked away Zamasu and then just went after Black as it. He's OP enough that you can just raise his power level and have things play out the same way.

And then the miracle of love finally happens.

Episode 17: Zamasu desiced to call himself...ZAMASU!

He kind of reminds me of Viggo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters II, if anybody remembers that movie. It's in the way he talks. I dunno. At this point I'm most interested in trying to keep track of the power scaling, to see how on point or off the rails it might get.

Zamasu here unleashes some Hellfire on the Saiyans.

Yajarobe forcing the B plot of this episode along by leading all the survivors around. The soldiers realize now that they are less than Frieza Army tier :trash and give up.

Goddamn, Zamasu is really more like a Final Fantasy end boss. Any of my FF peeps know what I'm talking about? Anyway, he destroys the Saiyans so far. They decide to go "full power" this time, which helps I'm sure. But it doesn't, Goku and Vegeta get wrecked again. Trunks tries his SSJ2 power out, and it garners a response about rage and amazing power from Gowasu. He goes for that OP Galic Gun, which I do appreciate getting a lot of love in Super. Small victories, I'm glad they bring it back often. Vegeta joings in and this is pretty awesome. All the stuff with Vegeta and Trunks is straight gr8 so far. They do push Zamasu back. Trunks is like full god level lol. Zamasu is fine of course and they are spent. Vegeta takes a bullet for his son.

Goku steps up. Come the fuck on. How is he able to have a single KHH that fucks with Zamasu more than the combined Galic Gun??? Isn't Vegeta way ahead of Goku because of the RoSaT?

This puts me on disk 2, so after this episode I am more than halfway done with this set.

Episode 18: The narrator opens the episode by saying the duel Galic Gun then the KHH have started to have some effect of Zamasu, so maybe he is slightly weakened by the time Goku steps in. Still an asspull. :trash

He completely blows back Zamasu's attack. :galu

It's enough to fuck up Zamasu and turn him into Harvey Dent. Kaioken time and Goku has gone full on Galu. :galu :galu :galu

Zamasu is pissed. Goku and Vegeta decide to fuse. Nice. They agree to this rather quickly and Vegetto gets serious right away. Zamasu looks. fucking. stupid with his one big hulk arm.

Vegetto is pretty much in charge here and can match Zamasu. But he seems to be nowhere near the superior he was compared to Gohan Boo. Zamasu roids out.

Trunks gets his sword back and...WHAT! Where have I seen this before?
003-16-I-Have-The-Power-Gif.gif

I mean, I'm sure he can do it, but I question whether he really even needs a sword here at all. And the imagery is very weird in dragon ball. Vegetto should just end this, but I'm not getting much of an impression that he can, power wise. Final KKH always cool. Then they unfuse, accompishing nothing. At least in the Boo Arc Vegetto was tricking Boo to get inside him.

Then Trunks DOES show up and stands toe to toe with Merged Zamasu?
Confused-Jacksonville-Jaguars-fan-in-stands.gif

He gets a spirit bomb sword from 100 people and cleaves Zamasu right in the dick. Holy Shit! Savage af. I'm just going to assume that this power was something that easily injured him like Kryptonite.

Episode 19:

The size of Trunks' spirit sword is ridiculous. Zamasu explodes and screams like a girl. Of course he isn't dead. The three Saiyans doing a signature attack all together was cool, until the beams twirled together like soft serve ice cream.

Not much else to write about here. They get this Zeno to erase everything, bring him back, then there are two zenos. Some bottom tier :trash :trash :trash worthy of only the lowest dregs Japan can dig up, writing wise. Even some of the OVAs didn't stoop to this level. Tell my why this was any better than just having the Mafuba work...

Everything gets wrapped up in a nice little bow basically. I guess at least Trunks can go back to his world and stand against pretty much anything. Especially with two of them.Turns out Gowasu was in love with Zamasu? He seems distraught. They try to force a heartfelt moment between Gohan and Trunks, but this Gohan is lame af and nowhere near the chad we saw in his one armed counterpart.

I meant power-wise. :galu :galu :galu

All-though, still since the manga in-general is shorter relatively speaking they might not be all that much different.
