Trunks said Black was as strong, if not stronger than SSJ3 Goku.

Nope, Trunks said whenever he faced Black, he keeps getting stronger and that's probably why Trunks thought that Black is hiding so much power.

That's true, and in the preview of Episode 50 we see Black Goku vs SSJ2 Goku and it looks like their around the same strength, with Black most likely holding a slight edge. Not only that, but Black traded blows with SSJ2 Trunks in episode 48, so the gap is not that huge.

Black was clearly trolling Trunks. Trunks hit Black and he tauntingly smiled, Black could have killed Trunks instantly. As for Black vs SSJ2 Goku we need to wait until the episode comes out to make any power guessing on that.

it actually helps it. Trunks and Goku used SSJ2 and the sparks disappeared after they transformed

Your probably right actually, Black could be holding back with Goku as well.

It's true Trunks stated that Black's power slowly increased whenever they fought. However he also stated that Black's power might even eclipse Goku's SSJ3 strength.

Context: after SSJ3 Goku punched Trunks to the ground
Goku: "Black is much more powerful than this, huh?"
Trunks: "Just as strong... No, maybe even stronger."

Perfect Cell > Goku Mssj > Vegeta Mssj (Pre-Majin) > Teen Gohan Mssj > Dabura

Placing him at Cell's level would be a little high. IMO he would fit nicely in the gap between Goku and Vegeta Pre-Majin. As a Super Saiyan 2, he would probably cap out at Kid Gohan SSj2.

As far as Super is concerned, Goku SSj3 is definitely stronger then Ultimate Gohan. So Black would probably cap out at around the strength level of Super Boo (Gotenks-Absorbed)

Trunks never seems entirely sure when he brings these messages from the future. He always leaves too many details in the dark.

Most just assume they're turning it off to give others a chance. Guess Freeza was worthy enough for Goku to use his powered-up Base, but Hit wasn't....

I think people just want to believe in this theory so guys like Frost and Cabba won't be so strong in Base. The theory actually makes things look even more stupid, though.

How can they turn godly ki off when they don't even have access to it? They only have godly ki while using SSJ God or SSJ Blue, afik.

Probably several tiers stronger than SSJ3 Gotenks, if he was able to elicit a positive acknowledgement from Beerus. Being the sole defender of his planet likely encourages him to allocate a good portion of his time towards training. From an out-of-universe standpoint, he probably wouldn't be of much value if he couldn't even take down someone of Buuhan's caliber by this point of the series.

SSJ Trunks > SSJ Vegetto seems pretty darn plausible in my opinion.
