It's pretty hard to picture that when Gotenks needed SSJ3 to be on par with Super Boo. The adults aren't exponentially stronger than the kids.

Because fusion isn't linear. DB Super explains us how strong fusion Is. It takes the max power of the two and multiply it. Goten and Trunks are well below Gohan. Not multiple times weaker, but still considerably weaker.

Base Gogeta > SSjin 2 Vegeta + SSjin 3 Goku X4
Base Gotenks > SSjin Trunks + SSjin Goten X4

The fact that little gains while being alone makes bigger gains while fused as stated by Piccolo also plays a role.

Gogeta is a total monster compared to Gotenks.

Essentially no, he did considered him useless, weakling and didn't cared of reviving him, so why would he? You can't compare apples with pears, Kid Trunks's his freaking kid.

Well, when saying "SSJ3 Goku's good, oh, but Trunks used being good too!" It can exist. Both are powerful characters even when they're not remotely comparable.

Training argument doesn't work much specially when we have SSJ Goku being calm w/Piccolo & Gohan.

Vegeta and Trunks were like, 60-70% of Goku in the Cell Games. The adults are probably 2x the boys, maybe a bit more, but less than 3x.

He was trying not getting hit on by Trunks, when he started, Vegeta was sweating and struggling and decided to punch him, afterwards, he was surprised hearing Goten's just little weaker.

I can understand what you're saying but Vegeta by this point of series doesn't have much respect for even Cell and Cell didn't respect Trunks nor Vegeta's power during Cell Games. Everyone minus Gohan on Cell Games wouldn't work for him training, he just have gotten way strong.

Super manga's full of nasty and horrible writing. Yes, but had he seen SSJ Kid Trunks? He doesn't need confirm Future Trunks capable of transforming since he saw him already more than once. 17 statement could make Base Kid Trunks = SSJ Future Trunks (Androids) or SSJ Future Trunks (Cell Games), both options are flawed.
