Toriyama states Goku is trying to train in Ssj3 only to realize he's not really making any massive gains and why would he? Hence why he changes his views after the ritual and begins training in Base.

It's logical Vegeta realized this before Goku or Vegeta is training in Ssj2 and isn't hitting the stamina wall that Goku is; giving him more gains.

As long as Goku is #1 in Super, Vegeta can be wherever YOU want him to be.

Goku realized that training in Base or Super Saiyans would give him better increases. This means he's training BEYOND Super Saiyan and hence why we probably won't see it anymore.

Vegeta doesn't have Ssj3.

Super Buu can equal 2x Fat Buu and Fat Buu = 2.5x Teen Gohan but all of them are weaker than Goku Ssj3.

Goku only increase moderately and it took 7 friggen years to do so.

The kids were still training, just slacking off.

The kids clearly had room to improve because they had never endured that kind of training before.

Goku had a hard time with Ssj3. Like I said, training to 'master' Super Saiyan 3 like he did Super Saiyan is different than training to get stronger.

Vegeta may have room to toughen up because he's not relying on the forced increase of Ssj3 like Goku is. Toriyama states that after Battle of Gods, Goku realized he can make better increases by training in Base as opposed to Ssj3. So there's friggen that!!! ;D

1)Plot gains are plot gains, dude. Goku gets stronger as he need to be. The fact that he got stronger, even if it's a little, is more than enough to prove you wrong. And Goku surpassing Gohan is still a big gain, considering the fact that the very same Perfect Cell who speeblitzed SSJ Goku couldn't possibly hope to hit SSJ Kid Gohan.

1)Plot gains is just you're attempt at turning you're head and not making sense of anything. The only clear difference was speed. Other than that there wasn't a huge difference in power and the only reference really made was Gohan being stronger, but much, much faster. So they don't need to be in completely different leagues with one another. Even a 10% gap works fine. Speed does not correlate with strength, it's been shown before. So Gohan may be slightly stronger but much faster. Hence why Goku didn't make any gains in 7 years.
