I don't like how Hancock turned into 180 after meeting Luffy. It seems a little like Farnese, only that Farnese's personality seemed a little more intriguing than Hancock's spoiled attitude.

Why didn't Whitebeard try to save Ace by attacking Impel Down first? That Nyon eldery from the island of the women even said Luffy had higher chances of rescuing him if he headed to Impel Down as that way he hadn't to confront the Admirals and the Warlords.

The last part helps reveal the answer - the Admirals and Shichibukai would've just headed for Impel Down rather than Marineford if that was the case. The only reason they'd all gathered was to stop the WB PIrates and if the pirates were to attack the far more isolated Impel Down, there were far greater chances of it turning into a naval battle with a high probability of the WB's best DF users being brought under the water.

Blackbeard pre timeskip got injured by Luffy's jet pistol... there's no way he's touching foes like Doflamingo that could tank attacks from a wayyy stronger Luffy, and such may speak to Ace's strength at that time.

Blackbeard's durability is pretty inconsistent due to how his DF works and his reliance on it. I mean, he took an attack from Ace far better than he did the Jet Pistol, yet proceeded to take the rest of Ace's attacks well.

Anyway, regarding Croc, I get the same impression. No way the guy who was clobbered by Luffy in their 3rd fight at Alabasta is acomplishing what he did on Marineford, like stopping Mihawk, being relatively fine after taking an attack from Jozu and so on. Btw I remember you had mentioned a line from Crocodile tha seemed like a recognisement from Oda that his strength was depicted inconsistently... could you find me that (or point at when it happened)?

Found the statement. That's interesting, I had never played attention to it. Yeah, it might be Oda recognizing and kinda trying to explain how marineford Crocodile seems different from Alabasta's one, contrived though the reasoning is.

I watched a long time ago. Forgot a-lot, so yeah.

Both kind-of actually l0l. I read the manga first and then the anime for the corresponding chapters. Some things I find hard to understand (either because of translation problems or not knowing who said what).
