New chapter was terrible. Pretty funny seeing Luffy get raped by Apoo.

lol apoo fucking luffy and zoro. but they'd manage to get it done if they were focused on him. it seems apoo had just a convenient power that made them troubled initially.

Yeah, this was a terrible chapter. Once again, Luffy drops the ball by being able to act inconspicuous in an overly predictable way that shows how static he is despite the events of the plot calling for actual character growth. Then you have Zoro, someone who criticised Luffy for not taking the New World seriously on Punk Hazard, making the same mistake. Also, Zoro comments on how Kaido's crew has too many heavy hitters. Could've fooled me when those two have been soloing their way through his crew with ease prior to Apoo.
I wonder if those characters shown after Queen's announcement will have any relevance. Oda certainly put more effort into their designs than the other fodder, though he may have just felt like being creative.
I don't mind Apoo stomping Luffy and Zoro though, considering it's been shown how deadly his DF can be even pre-timeskip when he destroyed Kizaru's upper body.

981 was mediocre. Luffy, Zoro and Kid have given themselves away to the entirety of Onigashima now, more or less. The samurai are still undetected but it's unlikely that will continue for long now that the whole island will be on alert. Chopper's tank conveniently ran into Big Mom, so I'm sure there will be some bs involved if he is to escape that situation. Marco the Phoenix has contradicted himself and shown up, keeping the Big Mom pirates out of Wano. This was a decent way to keep the war from becoming too unbalanced in the Yonko's favour, so I don't mind that. It's hard to tell who else Nekomamushi gathered but it looked like Izo in the last panel? One of the Numbers was also revealed to be a different race of giant. Looks nothing like the silhouette shown before.

982 was a step in the right direction, but also not at the same time. Marco revealed that news of Wano never reached the seas, explaining why WB never came to help Oden. Kaido has finally made reference to Raftel, hoping to extract information out of the Samurai.

That was about the only good that came from this. We see Kaido still showing no sign of intelligence even though he learned that the pirates were raiding his island. Also somehow Chopper and Usopp's tank is faster than Big Mom?

Yeah, Kaido's becoming ridiculously incompetent. Luffy's the guy who caused the Big Mom Pirates a lot of trouble and who has shown to have surpassed Kaido's expectations by busting out of prison, yet Kaido's attitude to an obvious problem is just "nah, it'll be fine"?

Mfw Orochi shows himself to be several times smarter than his master due to havinga modicum of common sense.

Unless King and Queen are much stronger than the version of Luffy who fought Kaido, his overconfidence makes no sense. King I could see, but Queen? Idk. He should know that the rest of his crew would be fodder to G4 Luffy alone, let alone all of their respective crews.

Yamato also seems to be an Oden fanboy, wearing a similar outfit and even chains around his wrists. Maybe he is the son of Kaido and Toki. Oden was away for several years after all

5th dimensional theory here. Yamato is actually Oden. They seem to have a similar body and he has the same chains that Oden had at death. Big Mom's favour to Kaido was putting a soul into Oden's dead body creating his "son". Kaido also calls Yamato his "idiot son" similarly to how he called Oden "idiot lord".

If this is true I'm committing suicide.

Another mediocre chapter. Along with what you mentioned, the Flying Six prove themselves to be jobbers. Not that unexpected when Raid Suit Simpji could already tool Page One, but it seems as though the others are a disappointment in power and character (full Pachycephalosaurus Ulti pinning Base Luffy down isn't exactly that impressive by Yonko crew standards). Drake is clearly the only one worth a damn. Also, can't remember if this is new information due to not paying attention to the pointless cover stories, but it seems Pound is alive. Not a surprise by OP standards, but it's going to be difficult to explain his survival beyond a Pell-tier asspull.

As for the Yamato = Oden theory, I doubt Oda will go for it no matter how desperate he is for another plot twist. We saw in Thriller Bark that Luffy's shadow allowed Oars to start using Gomu Gomu no Mi techniques and the actual soul would obviously be more potent. That said, Yamato would probably fight using Oden's style and weaponry rather than Kaido's if that were the case.

The same can be said of Moria's zombies, yet Oars was an exception due to Luffy's strong will. I'd imagine someone with comparable willpower and far greater spiritual strength/Haki like Oden would be able to maintain his soul. Also, it'd require Big Mom having done so about 20 years ago or Kaido keeping Oden alive in some way for such a long time.

Well, at least the theory about Yamato being a reborn Oden is debunked, not that the truth is much better. Gonna need some kind of galaxy brain explanation to justify how nobody has ever figured it out Yamato's gender (and lol if they knew and Kaido's fine addressing her as his son ). Sure, there have been cases of famous people having everyone duped on their true gender within history, but that's not in a world where some spiritually skilled people can sense precise details about you. At least Luffy reminds her of Ace rather than forcing in a reminder of Roger yet again.

I do like Robin playing the part of a sadistic member of Kaido's crew to fit in, giving her more characterisation than she's received for most of the timeskip . The scene does bring up a major problem I've addressed prior in that it's pretty dumb that Kinemon's disguises have Kaido's crew completely duped. Jimbei and Hyogoro should stick out like a sore thumb to Orochi and Kaido when the latter isn't covering his face and Jimbei's covering is about as subtle as Team Rocket's disguises. Even an illusion to block out this aspect of simple deduction would be testing the limits when it comes to suspension of disbelief.

Seems Page One and Ulti are stronger than I gave them credit for, or at least more durable, seeing as how they recovered quickly from taking an Elephant Gun and Thunder Bagua. It could just be due to their traits as experienced Ancient Zoan though, considering awakened versions of regular Zoan users with pretty simplistic combat skills are known for their incredible recovery abilities.
