Only going back at it, but I don't think Ultra Instinct is quite the same thing as whatever Goku was taught by Popo. Regarding Popo's teachings, it was more dodging without the need to use the eyes, by feeling the opponents' movements in another way that doesn't require to be actively looking at the opponent. UI seems to be more of an advanced concept, in which the user's body would move and react by its own. When dodging Tenshinhan at the 23rd Budokai for example Goku had to still think about his actions and movements, apparently... with U.I he'd manage to dodge senselessly, not needing to put his senses to work. The U.I is a more advanced thing compared to Goku's previous teachings. It seems all of his teachings culminates in the U.I. So I don't think Goku had to have necessarily forgotten about Popo's teachings in order to still have yet to master the U.I. Roshi was apparently employing such teachings (as was Beerus) and yet what they pulled off in their fight was still a far cry of the technique, as described by Whis.2kewl4u said:Yeah, because Toei's Ultra-Insitinct wasn't the same exact concept. This is AT's fault. Ultra-Instinct as that is was already taught to Goku by Mr. Popo. He either forgot or whatever. Toyotaro pointed that out, Toei ignored it. At-least he acknowledged the stupidity of it.

Anime ended with SSJ Galu and Freeza beating Jiren and #17 being the last man standing. I assume either this or Freeza and #17 beating Jiren will be the conclusion, seeing as how Toei wouldn't pass up the opportunity to have Goku bring home the win if it was part of Toriyama's script.GreatSaiyaman123 said:That's how the anime ended (I think) and Toyotaro isn't the most creative person, so yes.

So if Master Roshi knows of it and Goku surpassed his skill long ago, that means Goku did in-fact forget his teachings.ahill1 said:Only going back at it, but I don't think Ultra Instinct is quite the same thing as whatever Goku was taught by Popo. Other than, you know, common sense making it completely contrived that he'd gain this from throwing aside his justice when he basically said fuck justice to a dozen or so episodes prior.Fearless Instinct said:Lame, one of the good thing came from ToP anime is Hakaishin Toppo
