This plot armour aspect is annoying sometimes. Mr. 5 had the opportunity to end Luffy and Usopp then and there. He didn't and they got up like if they hadn't even received damage. It seems all damage the characters suffer is only valid until a certain time. With time, they will charge their barrier life to full like in video games.

This is especially apparent in part 2 with G4. Hell, even G3 works in this way in part 1. Wait a certain amount of time and then Luffy is magically good to go again. And somehow he conveniently survives every time when he's out of energy.ahill1 said:

Do you guys also find it a little dubious that Zoro so blatantly put Vivi's survival as a top priority at the expense of all the Straw Hats when saying she has to survive even if they're killed off? OK that he formed a friendship with Vivi with the time they interacted, but it seems a little off that he's already content with throwing his ambition as meaning less than Vivi succeeding in her task.
As a side note, Sanji vs Mr.2 was pretty cool. Likely the best fight imo after Luffy vs Crocodile.

Yeah that does seem a little out of character, but it's just Oda trying to accentuate that the conflict to save Alabasta was of utmost importance I guess.
I got a little bit behind because I was focusing on My Dearest Self with Malice Aforethought and Oyasumi Punpun, I'll probably finish Little Garden today or tomorrow so I can get started on Alabasta.

Finished the fight between Nami and Miss Doublefinger and honestly it was a let down... it takes too much suspension of disbelief to think Nami would just on keeping dodging everything amidst trying to figure out her weapon's way of work. Granted that Miss Doublefinger wasn't so blood lust,.but it's also pretty cliche that she'd just stand there while Nami is figuring out how to deal with her weapon. It's all way too convenient. Also, how the fuck would Usopp craft such a thing when as far as we are shown he hasn't that much knowledge on the climate matter? Also also, Miss Doublefinger creating a huge hole on the wall raises the question of why did Sanji imply that Mr. 2 (who by scaling should be >>> Miss Doublefinger) creating a smaller hole on the wall was a pretty big deal....
Zoro vs Mr, 1 was cool, but imo Sanji's fight still takes the cake as the coolest one. It featured some pretty smart thinking by Sanji to try to bypass Mr. 2 using Nami as a shield. Zoro reminiscing his teacher's lesson was cool tho, and can we even say that the state Zoro was in when about to heave at Mr.1 for the last time something resembling the Observation Haki?
