Just finished it yesterday, actually. I can highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good psychological/social criticism series, though obviously such needs to be analysed more than at face value to truly appreciate it.

Can anyone recommend some good animes that are not for faggots? Can't stand that faggot anime shit.
Here's what I like.
DBZ
FullMetal Alchemist
Attack on Titan
Berserk
Death Note
I watched Ruroni Kenshin when I was a kid and thought it was good, but that's too childish for me. And I watched Yu Yu Hakasho when I was younger. I liked that shit too. Maybe I'd watch it again.
What other animes are must watch for me oh anime watching experts. Please bless me with your divine knowledge.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Pretty much the one series that does almost everything that makes a series good; large scale war, political intrigue, well developed characters, high stakes due to a lack of plot armour and giving equal attention and balance to both sides of the conflict.
Hunter X Hunter (2011) - Starts off a bit light hearted and typical of Shonen, though no moreso than the original DB, but becomes a good subversion of the typical Shonen structure due to presenting a far less predictable story structure and more grey morality than most other Shonen. It's also made by the creator of Yu Yu Hakusho.
Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) - Manly men doing manly things, so something right up your street. The exact opposite of most modern faggot shit. It's also worth noting Miura cited it as a major inspiration for Berserk (or at least Kenshiro being a major inspiration of Guts' character design).
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Not as manly as HnK and a bit too flamboyant and fabulous at times, though still more manly than 90% of anime.
Monster - A better psychological thriller than Death Note, with just as good a look into grey morality.
Kaiji - Like Death Note, most of the conflict comes from psychological mind games. Easily the best gambling anime.
Blue Gender - What Attack on Titan could've been if it hadn't started pumping out Shonen tropes after the 5th episode.
Thanks CC, I value your input. I think those will look good. I love that morally grey area and of course the violence and killing. But it has to be done tastefully, not just a complete gorefest. Shows like Game of Thrones, Walking Dead are interesting to me because of this spectrum they are in. I question why we as humans are drawn to this gruesome, violent, brutal reality style of entertainment. I feel our nature draws us to it because it's our natural state. Without civilization, our lives would mimic the brutality we so enjoy, yet we love peace and culture too. We are a strange species.
But yea, I really liked Death Note because of how Dexter-ish Light became. It was amazing to see him be so manipulative. I like Hannibal a lot for that too. The Tv Show, not the movie (of course the movie is great, but I watched Hannibal tv recently). There is a certain point where it goes too far and can make you sick, I remember a couple of scenes from Hannibal that I was just disgusted with. But we always seem to go back for more.
Damn, I'm pumped. I wouldn't trust too many people's opinions, but you are a good analyst and you know me well. I'm sure this will be a great victory. It's so hard for me to get interested in television and movies anymore. It's a shame, as I've grown older, everything has grown a lot less interesting. Life can be very dull. I hope these bring those feels back.
In that case, you'll probably love Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Think of it as a mix between Game of Thrones and Star Wars, but without the bullshit plot armour or broken fantasy elements of either.
p123, Hunter x Hunter is a pretty good series and I would highly recommend it. But do NOT watch the 2011 version UNTIL the Chimera Ants. Just watch the 2011 when you are at Chimera, which is the final arc animated. Watch the 1999 for everything else and I think you'll enjoy more. The soundtrack, character's designs, atmosphere are way better in the 1999 version, although I admit that it strayed away a bit from the manga at some point. Still the difference is pretty minor and you'll enjoy it more, whereas the 2011 version is just too faggot-ish and childish with its overblown chidlish character's designs. The 1999 just does have a more obscure atmosphere, as well as less censure. Ask jackjack if you want.
So, to sum it up:
1999 --> watch until its end (it doesn't have the Chimera Anta saga)
2011 --> watch the final saga, the Chimera Ants, which is the only one they didn't censor too much and isn't faggot-like, on the opposite, it's veryyy well done.
IIRC you said you just watched the anime version of Berserk, as well as the movies right? Try reading the manga, they just cut too much scenes in the anime and censor too much things (as well as the most disturbing scenes)... the manga is way better for Berserk, unlike for HxH.
I'd disagree with ahill on that. There's not much reason to shift between the 1999 and 2011 versions. The 1999 has more moments that help show Kurapika's character insight in the Yorknew Arc, but other than that, it doesn't have much, plus the 2011 will get you through the average and shit parts (Pre-Yorknew events and Greed Island respectively) a lot quicker. Also, 2011 ost >> 1999 ost.

I'd fully heartdely disagree with 2011 ost being better than the 1999 one. This latter's ost is a flat out masterpiece with Kurapika's one and Kaze no Uta, not to mention Gon's one. I really can't warp on my head how the 2011's ost can be even remotely comparable to the 1999's one. This obviously varies from person to person (and we can't force our tastes as the best one, of course) but can you really say me Kurapika's ost in the 2011 is better than the 1999 one?
1999 - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D3q7jJZbb0g
2011 - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FLkjjmRLh3g
The only soundtrack 2011 possess I can reasonably tell even come close to 1999's (mainly the Kurapika one) is the "To give a marionette life". But it also possess good ones, like the "Legend of the Martial Artist", "Lamento for Piano", etc but iirc they were mostly played in the Chimera Ants arc (which I admit was very well done in the 2011) and are still a good deal inferior to 1999's IMO.
I also point the designers of the characters as being imensely better handled in the 1999, with the 2011 possessing overly childish ones like Killua and woman-like ones like Kirapika, who already looks somewhat like a woman in the original, although to a far lesser extent. Killua in the 1999 has a designer worthy of an assassin, whereas in the 2011 he seems just like a lill child cat. Although I admit that there're some designer discrepancies in the 1999 one like changing Hisoka's hair in the first arc, they are pretty minor compared to portraying main characters with childish designers.
I can't imagine myself enjoying HxH nearly as much if I watched the 2011 version instead of the 1999 one, with scenes like
Kuroro's last moment in the Genei Ryodan and Pakunoda's death
arc also being way better handled. Not to mention that the general feeling they give to hunters is also better made in the 1999 version, with it being a more rustic feeling, with them being closer to a jungle-style of life rather than a more modern approach.
I'd still maintain my opinion, in which you should watch the 1999 until the Chimera Ants arc and just there you watch the 2011 version.
Yeah, its quality decreased considerably after L's death, although the Near's saga is still above average imo.
And damn P, many days ago you said there was only 7 episodes to watch and you still didn't finish it? lol.
@Victorious --> even smarter than L? I dunno, L seemed to outsmart Light in some occasions, although you could give Light many points due to him winning. I think Near might even be a better debator than Light and L, considering Light many times didn't know what to answer when talking with Near, and even stated he was smarter than L during a convo they were having.
