What's a song you found in the last week that you liked?

Can you cook anything? Edible for yourself? Edible for others?

Would you like to have a pet?

Do you live at home during uni? I feel like you said you do.

Here's a song I guess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHv6oLgpLpQ Not heard much of anything new recently that I can really recall.

I can cook some basic things like pasta. Pizza I guess (have tried making from scratch but wasn't great, edible though, often just resort to the easy dough mixes). Ramen. I kinda have to make at least that much to provide for myself but I feel like but I should learn more. Been slacking off.

I might like to have a cat, but I don't think I'd be responsible enough to keep one.

I did live at home during uni.

I see I see. Cardcaptor Sakura I started a long time ago but I'll add the other one to the list. I kinda miss talking to Saiyan Femme, wonder what she's been up to these days.

Just listened to it. It's pretty decent yeah.

Would you accept 10 million dollars, but at the expense of that for the rest of your life you'll be chased by a deadly slug? It moves at the pace of a slug, but it can travel through water and anywhere to get you and if it touches you, you die.
No. 10 million dollars is a lot but I'm quite frankly too lazy to deal with a deadly slug. Assuming it can't be killed, I'd have to constantly be on the move. I guess the money would take care of that but still.

With the slug you could just move every 8 years or so. It would take it like 10 years to go from California to Massachusetts. I retyped Massachusetts until I got it right. Then immediately got it wrong again.

I wrote most of the wiki stuff apparently. Apart from SHC's tirade against me http://wiki.dbzeta.net/index.php?title=Shcavkyossj2

Yeh I wonder how Saiyan Femme's doing too, she must be like 32 or 33 now. Buuberries I've wondered about lately too, since they were friends. Weird from a 3rd person perspective to see those kinds of relationships suddenly disappear (from my perspective it appears sudden at least). I'm imaging all these people going out into the world, without anyone they meet knowing they used to spend hours on a DBZ forum with the same bunch of people every day. I mean you don't tend to tell everyone you meet about every other interest, community or walk of life you've been part of anyway I suppose, but the fact foruming and forum culture is so unusual/different to other stuff people tend to have experienced makes the idea of "hiding" it a bit weirder. Not that people are actively hiding it, more just not disclosing it.

You still like Slayer?

Has a manga ever scared you?

Have you ever watched a live action series based on a manga/webtoon?

Doesn't sound too bad when you map it out, but it'd still be a little annoying at like old age. I guess I'd be rich anyway though so it's doable.

Yeah, but I probably wouldn't seek out music like this normally most of the time. Not lately anyway, although I don't seek out much new music these days anyway.

Yeah I've pretty much never talked to anyone I know irl about how I've been on such and such forums or whatever back in the day. At most if I want to recount a relevant enough anecdote or the topic is just pertinent somehow, I've framed it like "when I used to post on some message boards back in the day, xyz" or something like that. It's just a separate thing I think that doesn't usually get brought up normally.

But yeah I hope they're all doing well. It doesn't cross my mind as much these days but it's always a little melancholy losing contact with people, online or not.

Warmmeup said:

I guess. Not like I've seen him in forever but I believe we were on good terms when I did, no reason for that to change now.

Warmmeup said:

I don't think so. Maybe a little. I haven't read much horror or anything. Maybe sometimes a panel was really gruesome to look at and put me off, can't think of any examples though.

Series, no. I'm not sure which ones exist. Movies, yeah.

Not really. I actually got a fair amount of what I guess could be considered anime merch from when I went to Japan, but I rarely wear any of it. A friend and I tried a few cons for the first time before the whole covid situation and those were the only times I wore them out in public.

http://wiki.dbzeta.net/index.php?title=Special:AllPages not many pages really. Just checked the user list and there are well over 50 bots (probs more like 60-70). Worst place to advertise ever.

About SHC I'm not sure lol, I possibly cussed him out for not getting back to Wolfgang (basically the same as how he's been acting for years like he'll join discord but then hasn't). I don't think we have a problem now though.

Yeh I might be like "my friend said[/did] this" and not say it was a friend from a forum. One of my "irl" friends has known for a year or two that I used to frequent forums and that we watched Grave Encounters (came up since he's a horror movie fan, unfortunately). Very vaguely described to him about Kenshi and Yoshi's drama a few months back (he basically asked what it's like on the forums), which he seemed to be secretly disgusted by lol.

If I ever get TV famous I'll give dbzf a shoutout. Instantly bringing my 15 min of fame to an end. But yeh losing contact is lame, even if you have new relationships on par with those old ones. There's someone I knew irl as a kid (like 8 yrs older than me though) who I've messaged like 2 years ago, but he didn't reply lol. Mind you there are old friends I've not messaged back/accepted friend requests from, just because the time didn't feel right and then a couple of years go by, so I can't talk. I've been sitting on a message I got in 2013 from a relative about 10 years older than me who was pretty much like "hey I don't know if you remember me [blah blah]", although I only saw it in 2015 since it went in my spam originally.

I defo don't seek out a whole lot of music recently (2020), but I spent a few years going through so many genres that youtube just gives me a decent variety of new stuff. Actively looking for music can defo be a time-wasting rabbithole, at a certain point.

Lol I didn't mean Slayerslice. Haha. I meant the band, since you chose them over Metallica, in an old topic.

Claymore creeped me out and gave me a scary dream. I think Parasite is the one I found most gruesome for a single page, when he's looking for his GF in the hallway of dead high school kids. Uzumaki's one I think about too much in case I go crazy thinking about spirals, like the characters in the manga do. I'm not super duper into horror (too much of a wimp, but also doesn't help that most horror is lacking in plot and decent characters and "horror" in movies is often just jumpscares), but I like horror elements in a story I guess.

Great Teacher Onizuka has a couple of live action adaptations, in the 90s and 2013 iirc. I watched the 2013 one - mostly cartoonish in its dialogue, action and the way he solves problems, but has some nice moments. Not exactly high-brow. I watched a pretty popular old Korean office drama last year called Misaeng which was based on some untranslated webtoon, that was good (tbh still got a few eps left). Some romances like Honey and Clover, Mars and Cheese In The Trap have live action series. Some surprising ones in there actually https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Japanese_television_dramas_based_on_manga

OH FUCK, you went to cons? That's crazy. Was it cool? When you say "could be considered anime merch" do you mean https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ad/77/ee/ad77eea475682dbce27fcca4e9b280e5.jpg

If you could only watch one anime for the next 10 years (won't be mean and say for life), what would it be?

Would you rather climb a 50ft ladder (which is bolted to a wall) or climb to the top of a giraffe?

Ah well that's good. I just remember that even back in the day it seemed really random.

Lmao, I would never describe situations like Kenshi and y0shi's to anyone I know in real life, except maybe as a passive observer to events unfolding in front of me by random chance.

I remember one time in college one of my friends got a hold of my laptop for one reason or another and peeked at some of the discord servers I was in, including the Zeta one, and then said something to me about the forum link in the server's description. Really random and I kinda freaked internally (not that I care *that* much, I don't think), but he's the kind of guy who doesn't care all that much about anything really and pretty much forgot within the hour so no big deal.

One of my friends is aware of GridZero's Youtube channel and somehow figured out that I knew him, don't remember the exact details there. Saw that I had him friended on Discord or Steam or something like that, probably. That one's just kinda cool though, I can be like, I knew this guy before he got big. Well, it's cool as long as he never puts out any BS that I can't get behind, anyway.

I don't know about you, but I'm the kinda guy who assumes that, although I remember such and such person from the past, they're not going to remember me back. Usually I feel like I wasn't a significant enough part of their lives for them to remember me after X amount of time, but then again the reverse is true as well and I still manage to remember, so who knows. Pretty sure we discussed this already on Discord actually but yeah. I'd be too nervous to initiate any contact with someone I haven't seen in a long time unless we were pretty close back then lol.

And then sometimes I actually do forget people here and there.......sometimes I meet up with someone irl again after some time and I perfectly remember who they are (face and all that) but forget their name, think that's fairly common though. There was a girl in college whose name I legit forgot on like two different occasions (tbf she was Asian and didn't have too common a name, though not an overly complicated one either) and I just wanted to die both times. The second time I ended the conversation very quickly before it came up and then messaged my friend asking him to remind me of her name for future reference, but he had trouble remembering too for a couple minutes until we poked each other's brains enough.

Sometimes I look at what Youtube or Spotify recommends me if it's new and I find some new songs that way. Other times I'll watch a streamer and they've got music playing in the background and I'll try to figure out what it is since it sounds nice. But yeah, I don't care enough about music to actively seek out a ton of new stuff, I don't mind listening to what I already know again and again as background noise if I need/want to. I'd rather seek out other forms of media.

Oh lol, okay. I actually don't quite remember saying that in the past, but I'll take your word for it. I haven't listened to a song from Slayer in years I feel like, I'd probably sooner listen to a Metallica song these days, seeing as how I listened to Enter Sandman like...a few days ago. But I guess I have no reason to not like them still, would just have to listen to some stuff again to refresh my memory. I mostly listen to hip hop these days though, with a sprinkling of J-Pop/J-Rock/K-Pop on the side.

Parasyte did have some gruesome bits in the manga yeah. Anime was pretty toned down in comparison, not intentionally I don't think, just didn't come off quite the same due to the inherent direction and artstyle there. Oyasumi Punpun has some parts that are really tense and a little creepy, not sure if it's quite the same thing though -- doesn't really fall under the horror umbrella, but it makes you uneasy. Homunculus was also freaky. Haven't read Uzumaki yet but probably will sometime.

I'm not into horror for pretty much the exact same reasons, so I just don't bother to watch it a lot of the time. Generally speaking I don't think I have too many biases for or against different genres, but horror is one exception. I can definitely do without it. Horror in anime or manga is probably more manageable though, up to a certain extent anyway.

That's cool, I think I've heard of the GTO one but none of the others. When you started bringing up some examples, I seemed to remember that there was one for Death Note as well, and sure enough it was on that list. I feel like I saw a clip or two from it around the time it first came out but I don't really remember now.

lol get that shit outta my face

Mostly just shirts is what I meant. One hoodie, but hoodies were expensive as hell in general, I only got the one that I did because it was an Evangelion one and I figured that I had no clue when I'd ever come back to Japan again and I had money to burn, so fuck it. Still missed out on a lot of cool looking stuff though. Got a few other things but I'd have to dig through my closet to find everything, I could show you some pictures at some point if you want to see.

Cons were cool yeah. One of them was just Baltimore Comic Con, the other was sort of a medium sized anime con in a hotel. The latter was a tiny bit underwhelming in comparison, but still cool, probably would've been better with a larger group of people. Nice congregation of nerds though. Lots of well-done cosplay (although a majority of it was probably MHA stuff lol. What's surprising was the number of actual children in MHA cosplays at Comic Con in particular). Bought some artwork and stuff to support the starving artists and all that, I planned to find some frames to put some of them in but I got lazy and haven't done it yet. Comic Con was also selling super cheap issues of old comics and manga volumes, I bought a random volume of this for like one or two dollars, forget which. I'd like to go to a much bigger anime or games con at some point since the anime one could've been better, but that's not happening anytime soon. That being said, I don't think they're something I'd regularly go to, just a cool thing to experience a couple of times, aside from instances in which some industry figure or content creator that I know of and enjoy visits one near me perhaps.

Hmmm. Something long would be preferable so that it could be more easily spread out over time, Gintama is the only thing I could think of that I could feasibly do that with without getting sick of it...but I might probably still get sick of it, lol. Still, something lighter/comedic overall would be best, I think I'd go nuts if I watched something heavier over and over for 10 years.

Giraffes are 15-20ft apparently, and I know I'm personally guaranteed to fall trying either one, so I'll just go with the giraffe.

Lol that would horrify me back in the day and even now, depending on who it is. Especially on Zeta, where there's more questionable content/abrasive speech patterns, rather than just the old goofy or nerdy stuff. Reminds me of when my friend at uni left his laptop out while he was logged in to Facebook in like 2011 or 2012 (k, 2012, just looked) and I decided to "frape" him, but didn't wanna post anything too messed up so just posted "I'm Karim" (his name) as a status, to make him look silly. He comes back and sees it and comments under it saying "go to hell [wolf]" and someone (who didn't know me) basically said I'm a retard lol and that it's the lamest thing you could do with someone's facebook. So yeh that backfired.

One of my friends is aware of GridZero's Youtube channel and somehow figured out that I knew him, don't remember the exact details there. Saw that I had him friended on Discord or Steam or something like that, probably. That one's just kinda cool though, I can be like, I knew this guy before he got big. Damn that is cool. Maybe if Progo's rap career takes off you can do the same again. Which reminds me that I found out today that that Krystal from dbzf (who used to post cosplay photos)is a voice actress in Hazbin Hotel and a few anime dubs, not that I've heard of any of them. Also reminds me of some composer who was Hitler's childhood friend, who wasn't interested in politics but joined the Nazi Party out of loyalty to his old friend. Hopefully if a friend puts out some questionable content (even just a bad review) it wouldn't reflect badly on you anyway, although I guess people can be idiots with how quickly they judge other people, just for being associated with someone.

I don't know about you, but I'm the kinda guy who assumes that, although I remember such and such person from the past, they're not going to remember me back. Yeh 100% I feel the same way. You mentioned before something like people who just barely passed through your life you'll remember and they probably won't remember you. Yeh we did discuss this on discord I guess lol. You ninja'd my thoughts.

Funny you say that about getting in contact, because I messaged Koaj on Tapatalk DBZF today, just asking how he is with the current situations, where he can find me or espo/that the discord is active and that me, you, espo and SHC haven't forgotten about him and don't ever be a stranger. He might not have email notifications on anyway though/might not see it even if he does (I know I wouldn't unless I searched my inbox, if it's my hotmail). But I'm the same where I would feel nervous, like they might be like "wtf this is random/weird" and tbh I always blank friends (like a friend (the guy I fraped actually) got in contact in June after like maybe 5 years and I replied but then haven't read his next reply, just a bad habit probably too concerned with saying the right thing or something, idk. Not really a thing that happens once I'm super close with someone again). Might have already told that story (but with less detail) in the previous post lol - I already forgot. Had a (uni) friend who added me after years, messaged me and then when I replied with a characteristically long reply (although I tried to keep it short) and he unfriended me without saying anything else lol, although he's honestly a weirdo (not saying that out of spite, he just is considering his first message randomly included telling me he watched violent videos and it fucked him up/advised me not to do it, even though there was no reason to think I would anyway). I think the fact so many people have added me or tried to add me 5-15 years after last seeing me indicates people don't fully forget, at least if you were actually "friends" for at least a year (some weren't my friends at all though, just classmates. Not added most people though). I just remembered I went for a haircut when I was 16 and my mum took me and the barber was like "I went to nursery with you", like he remember my mum was flipping nursery wtf, although she didn't really remember him if I remember correctly lol (she didn't say that to him though, just acknowledged she went to the same nursery pretty much). He gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had (was evening so it was a less experienced barber and him both cutting my hair together lol. Mind you it was almost double the price of my usual place) but it was also shorter than ever (except for as a baby) and had started snowing while I was in there, so I got a cold.

Anyway, I've thought about it and logically life is too short to be embarrassed or to wonder "should I contact this person?". I've thought for years it's stupid how people die or are close to dying and then people will say "I wish I'd talked to them", "should have told them what I thought/felt" etc, as if they're the first person in the world to ever regret leaving it too late to make the most of a relationship with someone (ie they should have learnt from others' experiences). Having said that I don't follow my own advice, because not all my behaviour is logical. I try to though. Sometimes I'll put off contacting someone because the time doesn't feel right (like my life circumstances aren't right or something), but tbh the time might never be "right". I defo need to reply to my cousin's message I got a few weeks ago (not spoken for years) and message Ani-Nation and my friend I mentioned above (might do some dumb shit like wait until his bday in a few months, to kinda use it as an excuse for a message (as if I need a fucking excuse)/have that the importance of that occasion override any potential feelings of embarrassment or whatever. The awkwardness of explaining why you delayed a reply is difficult itself). It is probs harder with someone if you weren't that close or it's been so long you've forgotten how close you actually were. That's a good thing with forums - you can look back and actually see how things were. Although if they don't do that too, they might have forgotten. Life's too short though and you can jog their memory anyway. Smack 'em one.

Bruh I don't know if it's common, but I've literally found myself struggling to remember names of people who I only stopped working with in April, after 6 months to a year of seeing them 5 days a week. Freaks me out. Usually I can jog my memory and get the names back, but it gets harder the longer I go without thinking about someone. I wonder if you were immortal how long it would take to forget your parent's names or if you changed your name how long it would take to forget your original name). Maybe you would never forget, but who knows. I've wondered about how long it would take for everything you consider to make up your identity to be fully replaced if you were living through different eras over thousands of years.

Ha sometimes common names are worst tbh. Like a name like Curtis is easy, but a name like Mark could be Mike, Matt, Mick, Steve or whatever (ps did you know the origin of the name Mark is the doctor forgot to fill in the 1700s forgot birth certificate properly but got it dirty, which got read as being a "mark"? I like trying to get people to believe random lies like this, although I always fess up). I feel like calling someone the wrong name or forgetting their name can be really offensive, even though as you say it doesn't mean you've forgotten who they are. A name isn't even that important - my name gets a couple of pronunciations (anglicised vs not), loads of people have different names (first, last or both) in different countries/communities (eg a Chinese name with family and an Anglicised name at school/work) and I've been super close to people online without knowing their actual name or rarely ever using their name. A name is just one feature of who someone is and it's one of the most superficial and impersonal things about someone really - considering it's often one of the first bits of information you give someone upon meeting them. Not that I don't understand how forgetting would offend someone/make them think you don't care (I'm bad with names when I first meet people and once straight up told someone this and that it wasn't personal and asked him to tell me his name again so I can remember it and he looked all stroppy lol, even though I thought it was better than the whole struggling to not let on that you've forgotten someone's name during a conversation/waiting for someone else to say their name or back in the day being like "what's your name on facebook" or obv if they have a hard to spell name you're lucky and can ask how to spell it).

Lol beavis and butthead both forgetting her name, that's funny. You can be beavis. I've actually convinced myself that I've remembered someone's name, then realised just in time that actually no, that's a similar name but the wrong name. I did call someone by the wrong name at work after confidently convincing myself I'd remembered them all correctly, even though I'd been loosely working with this woman for like 4 months already. Luckily she didn't hear it properly (she probs would have known it was her name I was saying, if that had actually been her name), but it was still a shock to me lol.

I defo don't seek out a whole lot of music recently (2020), but I spent a few years going through so many genres that youtube just gives me a decent variety of new stuff. Actively looking for music can defo be a time-wasting rabbithole, at a certain point.

Yeh same as me with the related videos I guess then. I recently have been putting youtube on the wide player so the related vids don't distract me though, cuz I'll get too curious about them all sometimes, especially if the name or thumbnail picture is cool. Personally I find if I use something as background noise (for reading, studying, commuting, getting ready for the day, sleeping or whatever. I've been trying to cut music out though and am less dependent on it compared to a few months ago) for a while, it loses its effectiveness eventually and needs replacing. After a few days, weeks or months. So I do save anything new I find that could serve as future background music in youtube playlists, but I also already have enough stuff now to keep me going. I do still like to hear what's out there, just to experience new stuff and I've taken an interest in composition and stuff, ever since I started playing bass in like 2018. By other media you mean movies, anime and youtube videos? I defo used to spend too much time on listening to music, to the point where I'm not getting anything out of it (unless I was dancing or something, in which case at least it's exercise). It's almost like reading the same manga over and over - gets to being an ineffective use of time.

Lol I didn't mean Slayerslice. Haha. I meant the band, since you chose them over Metallica, in an old topic.

Yeh it was like 7.5 years ago. I would almost never voluntarily listen to Slayer for more than like 30 seconds, surprised you would've ever put them ahead of Metallica. Metallica maybe a bit, although I've gone off the vocals completely. Had a phase of checking out Megadeth (Koaj's old favourite band actually) for a few weeks or so though. If I listen to too much metal or heavy, angry or sad rock music it eventually isn't good for my mood - just makes me a bit more insular. But going back there sometimes gives me a boost, probably because it's the first kind of music I was into.

You listen to Kpop ahahahahahahaha. Funny because I do a bit too, very occasionally. I listened to quite a lot from like early/mid 2018 until early 2020. G-Dragon had a cool video (Crooked) I saw in like 2015 and I remembered it and looked up kpop, liked just the dance choreography and visuals in general, but eventually I liked the music and the positive lyrics (compared to a lot of the super popular American pop stuff I was aware of at the time, which seemed to all be about sex or something negative like breakups) too. G-Dragon, Bigbang, BlockB, BAP, Blackpink, BTS, Monsta X, Exo, Seo Taiji, Stray Kids, Shinee, Dreamcatcher and NCT were some I liked multiple songs by. Got into some 90s style stuff like Lee Jung Hyun, Kim Hyun Jung and Koyote too, which was more eurodance influenced I'd say (idk).

I've listen to quite a lot of Jrock and Jpop since around mid 2017, although I've been trying to get back into English-language stuff, partly because I can actually understand it (although there are benefits to not being able to understand the lyrics) and partly because it's a bit more normal and makes talking to people about music easier. Like before I could say I was into rock, metalcore or whatever, but then all the bands I liked were Japanese, so I would just name some old American/maybe British bands that in truth I hadn't been much into for years. I'll go online and find reddit threads where people have asked for bands similar to Japanese artists I like, but all the recommendations are other Japanese bands, rather than similar Eng-lang artists, so that's fruitless for transitioning back away from Japanese stuff. Obviously anime music was a segue into (just found out segue isn't spelt "segway") listening to Japanese music, but what got me full on into all that stuff was again playing bass because Jrock tends to have more varied, melodic and prominent basslines (from what I've read it's due to American jazz influencing Japanese jazz and jazzrock bands like Casiopeia in the 80s and then Japanese rock being influenced by that. Whereas I suppose in America jazzrock was never as mainstream so didn't influence rock as much) and also tbh I was looking for ideas on how to style my (black) hair and maybe clothes lol.

From what I heard one thing the anime did was made Migi more of an actual friend to the MC than in the manga. I can imagine Punpun being creepy, kinda like Chi no Wadachi possibly. Like real life interpersonal situations that just feel fucked up. Yeh Homunculus was weird from what I read. 20th Century Boys is pretty weird, in a mystery thriller sort of way (it's about a cult). Dorohedoro and Psycho-Pass (more so) would be the sort of stuff I'd consider to have horror elements. Even Neon Genesis a bit, but that's more psychological and existential horror and concentrated towards the end. A lot of my favourite movies are thrillers that involve somewhat horrifying circumstances, but aren't horror per say. To me even a war movie like Saving Private Ryan might be a horror (not seen it), but obviously it's not part of the horror genre....it is real life horror though, which I like. Part of why I don't like particularly like Tarantino movies like Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained (was ok, since it was unique) and Kill Bill is he removes that from the violence (Reservoir dogs was an exception).

Yeh worst medium for horror is games, if you don't want to be scared (mentioned before that I was atrocious at Silent Hill, even before seeing any enemies. Heck, I used to be scared to carry on in games like Timesplitters or even the stealth level in a James Bond game creeped me the f out). Manga you do have to choose to carry on (which could be harder than a movie say), but it not having sound helps. That said, I am a Hero legit almost jumpscared me with the way you'd turn a page and see some bad or scary stuff happen.

Oh right. Yeh band or anime hoodies tend to be crazy expensive outside of Japan too, like USD$50-65. With bands I defo big markups on merch, because it's how they make their money nowadays and you're getting to financially support the band/pay them for their work. That's good you got some stuff while you were there. Some people frown upon wearing stuff like that and yeh you don't wanna destroy your reputation but it's cool to rep what you're into or wear something unique sometimes. Life's short and that.
I'd defo like to see, yeh.

Nerds. Reminds me of the manga Genshiken where they go to cons and people sell weird fanmade comics/doujinshi. Lmao you bought some romance novel, what a surprise.
A manga, but "romance novel" sounds worse so yeh. "Romance novella" would sound even worse, but I won't go there.

I guess MHA really is like the new Naruto then, since from what I saw online it used to loads of people dressed as Konoha or Akatsuki ninjas. I wonder if kids used to go to cons much like 10 years ago. Probably more kids into anime now, since many of them have parents who are somewhat into anime themselves. "Actual children" lol

I wanna go to at least one anime con to see how it is/get to openly fully nerd out and be around other fans, even though some fans might be kinda weird (just from my perspective ofc). I always thought it looked cool when I saw people post about them.

If you could only watch one anime for the next 10 years (won't be mean and say for life), what would it be?

Surprised you chose that one (dunno what I actually expected if anything in particular. Maybe NGE since you like it and Asuka('s visuals?), but yeh that definitely a short and dark one (what you talkin about willis)), but I'd have said Gintama too (that's what made me think of the question in the first place and what made me consider it my favourite anime, even though there were others I liked just as much). Has enough interesting characters and situations to keep its rewatch value.

Some random music that I've enjoyed semi-recently-ish

Elephante - Intro vocals reminded me of Crystal Castles. when I first heard it I thought it was kinda in a weird zone for me where it seems good to relax/concentrate to, but then is too energising at the same time, but not the sort of thing I'd particularly enjoy dancing to. But tbf I could see myself listen to this while walking or on the bus. I think I've been getting into trap (says it's "chill trap") - I say "think" because I'm still not quite sure what trap is. I guess that drum beat at 0:44 is the kind of sound I think of.

Terror Reid - I know this guy actually, maybe this song amongst others too. Good. I like those kind of fantastical lyrics sometimes. Good flow obviously.

A Tribe Called Quest - Surprised to see this band. Never really listened to them, but heard of em a lot. Pretty chill, although sometimes I can't really chill to stuff with such intelligible lyrics, because I end up paying too much attention to them.

Brand Nubian - Never heard of this lot. Accent sounds like ODB to me (both from NY so makes sense). Pretty sure I would have liked this years ago when I listened to a lot of hip hop. Saved it anyway in case I get back into the genre. Actually I can imagine using this as bgm for working more that the ATCQuest one. Probably because there's less dynamics and less of a head-bobbing groove.

Mosh Pit Killa - if I recited the intro in the middle of Spain I wonder if it would be something dodgy. That beat is fucking amazing. Reminds me of ghostmane, suicideboys and scarlxrd. Actually it was from those I found Terror Reid.

Tuyu bus to the other world, see ya - nice song title. Feel like I've heard so many songs like this (Japanese rock/pop with very high-pitched female vocals and this sorta fast tempo and a certain rhythm to the vocals) at this point. This is an example of a song with a pretty nice bass line (obv with a lot of effects on it though). Artists like Lisa, AliA, Asca. Kinda reminded me of Psyqui too, although that's more electronic. It's pretty good though, for sure.

Panty and Stocking - Lol I know this one because on discord it said you were listening to it. I like it. It's actually the song that inspired me to post those two videos of music on the previous page. It sounds kinda like a lot of Japanese pop (sounds nothing like it, but the funkiness reminded me of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qRCARM_LfE ), especially the funky stuff. Except those songs tend to get high-pitched in their choruses whereas this doesn't quite as much. Also reminds me of the cyberpunk instrumentals from the Va11-Halla soundtrack. Wish there was more stuff like this in the charts.

Also figured out how to open dbzf links https://dbzf.co.uk/forum/headquarters/suggestions-and-feedback/10051-i-figured-out-how-to-view-old-dbzf-links-on-the-tapatalk-forum#post10051

"If you click on a dbzf.co.uk link on the archived Tapatalk forum it will take you to an error on here, because the links are broken/no longer attached to those urls.

To view the thread, just replace the "http://dbzf.co.uk" part with "https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/dragonball_z_forum/" Eg - https://dbzf.co.uk/topic/8389683/1/#new becomes https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/dragonball_z_forum/topic/8389683/1/#new"

Chewed two pieces of gum together while writing that first post and damn that gum got a hammering

edit: fixed url (the tapatalk example/last one). Was going to an error page - don't think that was the case after I initially posted it though.

My friend and I would usually post stupid shit on each other's discords whenever we'd work on school stuff together and just have both of our laptops sitting out there. I guess that's just one of those universal harmless pranks that all boys pull when given the opportunity.

And yeah, the fact that it was Zeta that almost got leaked had me a little shook. Although I don't think you'd see anything crazy at just a glance, but still.

There's actually a guy from my high school who's trying to get his rap career off the ground and I think he's found some modest level of success that I didn't expect him to have. I don't care for his music at all from what I remember (been many years since I saw this one music video from him and that's all I really experienced). I didn't really know him all that well though so not really something I could brag about if he properly blew up I guess. One of my friend's younger brother is also trying to be a rapper and he posts shit on Soundcloud. Not doing too well from what I can gather, but some of his stuff randomly got a ton of traffic in India iirc, so I guess he's got a niche lol.

I looked up Hazbin Hotel but at a glance I couldn't find her in the cast on Wikipedia. Was her real name also Krystal? Don't remember...

Judging a person by association with another is definitely something I've seen a lot of, especially whenever I dabble into shit like Youtuber drama and whatnot (which I mostly try to avoid so I can't remember any specific examples or anything atm, but yeah). Not that I actually think it'd be a problem in this one instance lol, was just making a joke before.

The part about people dying and then wishing I'd talked to them more before they'd gone hits a lil hard yeah. There're a few people who used to be in my life towards whom I've felt that way after they had died. Not just friends, but also just like people who've just helped me in my life, like guides/mentors/father figures if you will. It feels shitty since it feels like you didn't do enough while they were still alive, like you weren't a good friend or you just took their existence for granted or something. I try not to be too hard on myself since I'm just the kind of person that keeps a certain distance and will usually not reach out to contact people randomly or whatever, but yeah it kinda sucks. A few times I've thought that it'd be better if I just kept to myself and didn't really get to know anyone at all, but those're low points in my thinking process and it's certainly not true.

Hopefully koaj sees your email at some point but I get the feeling a lotta guys have just moved on entirely from this sorta scene, including him. It is what it is I guess.

Blade of the Immortal has a little bit like that towards the end, since it's about an immortal dude. You should check it out sometime.

After I stopped working part-time retail I forgot the names of the people I worked with everyday fairly quickly...few months, yeah. It's not like we were ever friends or anything but it's interesting how that works either way. I guess since I never had an actually meaningful relationship with any of them, my brain deemed their names not worth remembering. Faces are just easier I guess and I can still picture most of them to this day. I think I can only remember my manager's name. Maybe.

I would've maybe believed your lie about the name "Mark" upon reading if it I understood what you meant, but I didn't lol.

I know that I for one am not really bothered if people seem to remember me but not my name, but it sows some doubt that they're just faking like they remember you so I can see how someone'd be peeved if you got their name wrong or just admittedly forgot it. Which is why I'm usually so tense when I actually do forget someone's name even though I can remember them very well otherwise.

I did call someone by the wrong name at work after confidently convincing myself I'd remembered them all correctly, even though I'd been loosely working with this woman for like 4 months already.
I have a bad habit of overplaying music in general. Been trying to get rid of it, but sometimes when I find something nice (or a few tracks that are all nice), it's hard to listen to anything else for a while, but then eventually it gets hard to listen to those things. Vicious cycle.

Yeah, movies/anime/etc. Video games too. I think I get more out of those kinds of media and would rather consume them more often, but sometimes I'm just so lazy that my brain wants to just sit around and let music flow unfiltered into it. I've known people who see listening to a ton of music as a vice and I kinda get it now tbh lol. Discovering something new in terms of fiction is a lot more exciting and eye-opening though when I can get around to it.

Tbh, I still don't remember saying that I put them ahead and I'm surprised that I would too, but like I said I'll take your word that that is indeed what I said. I agree that too much metal/heavy metal/death metal/all the metals gets unpleasant after a certain point. Or sometimes just right off the bat. I don't listen to a whole lot of it at all anymore, but there's some good stuff in there.

Well I can feel better that you've named off more groups/people that I can think of. Jkjk. I was put off from Kpop like most "normal" people probably are I think, largely in part due to all the weirdos that follow it, but I think I figured that if I could listen to Jpop then Kpop couldn't be all bad. The dance choreo and visuals were definitely enticing when I actually took a closer look, and the music wasn't bad so yeah. The dancing actually confuses me a lil tbh, sometimes I think about the moves they're doing and I'm not really sure what about it I find appealing to watch, but I guess it's something to do with the fluidity of the movements or something idk. Not like I understand dance choreo in the first place. Hearing a bunch of Kpop in Twitch streams is what ultimately got me to listen to some for real though.

Seeing as how lots of Kpop stars also do shit like reality tv and lots of other shit to boost like fan interaction, I get why there a ton of obsessive fans (stans, rather) of Kpop now. I'm not a part of that, but I see how they got from Point A to B now, so whatever. I still don't understand the weird practice of embedding a Kpop performance under completely unrelated posts on Twitter though.

Not sure that I remember that distinction between manga and anime Migi, but it's possible. Neon Genesis Evangelion is something that crops up a lot in Buzzfeed-esque top 10 brutal/horrifying/etc anime lists, which I didn't understand right away (mostly because such lists are constantly topped with shows like Hellsing and Elfen Lied, which are brutal in an edgier sort of way), but after thinking about it for a second I did understood why. Thrillers with some kinda horror-like mood are good since they're more to provide tension/unease than to really frighten you, make you queasy, or make you jump out of your seat I think, so I do enjoy that.

Yeah, the immersion with video games + horror is just too much. I should get around to I am a Hero at some point finally.

Apologies for poor image quality, my phone's kinda busted atm, but:

Front of hoodie
Back of hoodie

On that note, one thing that really annoyed me about shirts in Japan is that the more elaborate design was almost always on the back, whereas something lame was on the front. I guess I can see why the designer would want people behind you to see the design on the back, but I usually where hoodies and shit. One annoying example that I didn't even realize until after I bought it is this shirt that has this cool map of Mt Fuji on it, except it's on the back, and there's just some low key logo or print on the front. Maybe people prefer that more, idk.

Here's some other stuff, making me realize that I haven't even gotten around to opening a lot of it. There's a lot more (shirts in particular) but I couldn't be bothered to find all of it right away lol. I can dig some other stuff out later.

It's actually more of a comedy that parodies a lot of shoujo archetypes and stuff. Part of the reason I also started to want to understand those bare-bones shoujo tropes and cliches in the first place but yeah. Romance is cool too though, not sure if I'd buy it as readily but for a dollar I'd probably pick up mostly anything.

Here are some romances/romcoms that I do like:

Surprised you chose that one (dunno what I actually expected if anything in particular. Maybe NGE since you like it and Asuka('s visuals?), but yeh that definitely a short and dark one (what you talkin about willis)), but I'd have said Gintama too (that's what made me think of the question in the first place and what made me consider it my favourite anime, even though there were others I liked just as much). Has enough interesting characters and situations to keep its rewatch value.
I'm kinda surprised I picked Gintama too really. There's a lot of it that I still haven't watched, but a lot of what I have seen doesn't do it for me quite like it used to back in the day. Not sure why, been a while since I've watched any of it. Might just be used to it. I just felt like it'd have the longevity for it though. NGE might be fun to pick apart, but it's also really heavy. But that's another contender for different reasons, it's just 10 years is a *really* long time.

Tuyu bus to the other world, see ya - nice song title. Feel like I've heard so many songs like this (Japanese rock/pop with very high-pitched female vocals and this sorta fast tempo and a certain rhythm to the vocals) at this point.
It sounds like a pretty typical Osu song to me (it's on Osu so that'd make sense but yeah), so yeah I've definitely heard a lot of similar stuff. I do like the song title too.

Wish there was more stuff like this in the charts.
why u stalk my discord breh. But yeah this is the original song in case you didn't know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBF8uA3UJ6w but I also like that cover a lot, as well as that artist's stuff in general.

I tried this with some other links but it didn't really work. Maybe I'm braindead idk, I'll try again later.

Thoughts on the original (got remixed for the anime) version of the Aku no Hana ending song?

Easier to listen to for sure. I still had to skip around admittedly. I think the instrumental is powerful and I like it, the vocals are pretty interesting to hear but still a little uncomfortable. I think this might be more enticing if I understood the words while listening (I did read some translations in the comments).

i read your post (like a year and 11 months ago). cool merch. you worn more than before yet? the hoody is discrete and looks cool in general, but fans'll know, which is cool. I've never approached someone based on their familiar shirt design tho, so you probs won't know if someone knows it anyway. i guess cool designs on the back so you look cool walking away. Or maybe because the front design would get distorted if you have a contoured body.

surprised to see gintama rock up. cool. what are the One Piece things? NGE stuff looks hella cool, especially Rei. Surprised they actually sell Lain and Haibane Renmei stuff. I think it'd be an overload to suddenly see merch for so many series I've known about for ages (esp if I'm a fan) but never seen any merch for. Like when an obscure series you like gets approved for a tv series/movie or an obscure band is playing at a festival.

yeh real name Krystal. first result for "krystal hazbin hotel"

i'll read those romances. Don't read manga lately. Would watch if on netflix.

"Hopefully koaj sees your email at some point but I get the feeling a lotta guys have just moved on entirely from this sorta scene, including him. It is what it is I guess." This is almost you.

Anyway you seen Your Name yet? Garden of Words? 3-gatsu no Lion? I figured they're your kinda thing. I watched Your Name and it was pretty beautiful. Not usually into movies, esp anime ones, because they're too long (took me like 4 sittings to get through), but I'm glad I watched it.

I wear it whenever my other hoodies are in the wash. Haven't gotten any comments on it or anything. Yeah, I definitely prefer merch that doesn't scream out where the source is from, although I do have a few shirts that are a lot more obvious. Might sell em one day, we'll see, I don't wear them much.
I've never approached someone for wearing merch either nor have I had that happen to me. I've heard it happens to people but I feel like it's a weird thing to do.

The One Piece things are like coasters, I guess? I'm not 100% sure honestly lol but I just leave them lying around at my dining area.
For Lain and Haibane Renmei I think it's because the character designer is fairly well-known, hence the presence of those artbooks, but I was pleasantly surprised to see them as well. The Lain artbook contains this short story amongst its pages

Though of course it's in Japanese so I can't read it :/ Looks very nice though.

Found it. Pretty cool.

Netfux sux. You watch anything on there lately? I know Squid Game was all the rage just now. Good to see the west get some more exposure to Korean media, I suppose, they've been missing out.

"Hopefully koaj sees your email at some point but I get the feeling a lotta guys have just moved on entirely from this sorta scene, including him. It is what it is I guess." This is almost you.

You're not wrong. Hopefully I won't ghost you guys forever though. I like to check in because I like you guys but I get busy sometimes.

Your Name no, but I did watch Weathering With You from the same director in theater when it came out. Plot was so-so in my opinion but the visuals were beautiful. Garden of Words I believe is from the same dude but haven't seen that either.
3-gatsu no Lion has been on my to-watch list for years at this point. I don't really want to commit to an anime right now but that's what I've been saying for years already. One day though. I do think it looks good.

How has it been on the DBZeta Discord Channel, Kyo? I miss talking to you.

Fine I guess. Just the same old. Hope you're doing well.

Did you ever work out during college, as a boost for your work ethic? Or did you essentially just keep the same habits you had in middle and high school, and work your way up toward getting your degree despite being a lazy bastard otherwise?

Yes, I worked out in college. Not as a boost for my work ethic, just because I felt like it. I haven't worked out since COVID started.

Ah. It's the opposite for me. I worked out a lot between 16 and 18, but my 20's turned me away due to long-persisting health issues, and I got started again on it recently. I look and feel better than I've felt in years despite still having depressive episodes/insomnia when I don't work out, so I can't say I have made a better decision in years

I'd like to get back into it myself but between work and job hunting I feel pretty lethargic in my free time
