I'm pretty sure the way SS3 Gokuu dashes at Gomah when they start fighting is a reference to something, but I can't put my finger on it.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, SS3 Gokuu vs. Pure Boo in DBZ (at least I think so. But it wasn't slow mo like in Daima so I'm not sure)

Awesome as usual!
Reactions are sadly the same as usual here too though...
Oh well.
You'll have to forgive us for having standards. This take on Super Saiyan 4 lacks all thematic and narrative weight the original had. It's another modern asspull power up that doesn't understand what made the original incarnation good.

To all the people glazing it and bein' all like "You hate fun" or "Are you even fan?" or "They gave you what you wanted and you still complain!" or "ZOMG, Super Saiyan 4 is canon" I have this to say to you.

Most people liked seeing Ssj3 Vegeta while this is derided as pure fanservice. that speaks to the lack of good execution.

still your right to like it. it's our right to dislike too though.

I'm not going to watch it. The chibi shit is a turn off. Was it stated as to why the chibi aesthetic was decided?

They said it was aimed at GT fans. So the story loosely parallels GT with adults turning into kids. I'd say the plot is even worse though, because it takes 5 episodes for something to happen and all it's got going for it is fluid animation.

I guess there's a reason why it was slated to be a web animu.

The thing is, most people like this, too. It's just a vocal minority complaining. If we're counting vocal minorities, some people complained about SS3 Vegeeta, too.

Super Saiyan God, "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan" (still the worst name ever), Golden Freeza, Super Saiyan Rose (oh, excuse me, "Rosé"), Ultra Ego, Black Freeza, Orange Piccolo, Gohan Beast, and Cell Max were more polarizing than this when they were first introduced. But even they've grown on most fans by now (well, aside from probably Cell Max. I don't think anybody gives a shit about a red recolor of Semiperfect Cell, but people did enjoy seeing him fight Orange Piccolo because it's not often you see two giants fighting in Dragon Ball).

SS4 remained a popular transformation decades after GT ended, so Toei reintroduced it in Daima with Toriyama's approval (supposedly). Many people were expecting SS4 to return since Daima is GT 2.0, anyway. They're pleased to see it back, even if it looks worse than it did in GT.

Let's be real.

GT is mostly torture to watch before Gokuu fights Rilld. There's a reason why Funimation skipped those early episodes when they first did their dub.

Then again, you like Dolltakki, so ...

I didn't realise this show existed and was legit.

I've seen ep 1 now. How it runs through parts of DBZ is good for new kids who don't know the original. I dunno if they chose this kind of story with that in mind. They actually redrew the Goku vs Vegeta fight, which is cool.
Having Vegeta and Goku train together matches Vegeta's change in attitude towards Goku. I don't remember if Super had them training together from so early on.
When they do the beam struggle, the beams just disappear when Goku flies around it. Where'd it go? If Goku stopped his kamehameha, shouldn't the gallick gun carry on now that there's nothing in the way? Or did Vegeta realise in that split second that the resistance was gone and he also cancelled his beam? Since when could you cancel an already fired beam anyway?
Good animation and art, matching modern anime. Good choice to make it in seasons. It did look a little like a video game when Vegeta launched his beam though.

"Um, would you like some juice?". Lol'd. Mr Popo went from being the second-strongest on Earth to trying to negotiate for his safety using fruit juice.

I like that they all went small and not just Galu and Vegeta. I wondered who would count as their nakama. Like Bora, Android 8, Suno, Upa, Roshi, Turtle, King Kai, Korin, Dende, Popo? It's done a few of those.

Piccolo doesn't look like his kid self.

Dende acts like a baby. But Galu boy, Vegeta, Krillin etc act like their adult selves still. Dende should be crying.

Bulma gonna fix the ship. Once again, she's a vital part of the franchise. GOAT Bulma.
