Wasn't Whis making an estimation of his full power instead of commenting on the visible power, though ? And IIRC, was even site that states that it is Jiren's full power that is rumored to be GoD level.

Beerus is probably just the most comparable guy around.
Or Toriyama already forgot who Jiren is.

It seems more likely that Broly follows the old tradition of being a main antagonist stronger than the last one. Even the one exception in the form of Beerus in BoG arc still use a level of power inferior to that of Golden Freeza's.

This whole notion of episode 110 Jiren being stronger than a God of Destruction and SSB Vegetto as a result is just baloney on a turd sandwich. Nothing else supports that POV except opinion.

That's the anime though, Akira has little involvement with the anime according to interviews. It's most likely he is using manga scaling of character rather than the anime since he is always involved in the manga.

So it wouldn't prove Jiren wrong but rather we have to wait until anime Broly comes out to see how strong he is compared to anime Jiren. Since anime Jiren and manga Jiren both have different levels of power.

While it makes sense, I doubt Broly >= Jiren would change with the anime, since DB is about escalation of power, a tradition that has rarely been broken. The main protagonists always want to get stronger, so naturally their opponents need to get stronger too. Even Beerus, one of the exceptions to that rule, held back to the point he was even weaker than Golden Freeza, the following opponent.

Yi Xing Long stated he was a God of Destruction (Hakaishin) in an episode of GT. Inb4 he's revealed to be one of the Hakaishin from a destroyed Universe that somehow survived.
