It's not bad. People are just upset because it made Bardock not the badass they remember from the non-canon TV special.
... Which he might still be, in fights off screen.
Either way, this is just random fans' opinion.
Everything is fine. Every retcon so far has been good for the series, despite the hateful fan opinions.

Why the fuck did they change Freeza's design? Lol. Are they trying to retcon him into being younger than he is because AT forgot Freeza didn't physically age at all in the ~30 years after Planet Vegeta blew up?

Also, I really hope AT hasn't sustained so much brain damage that he thinks Vegeta and Goku are the same age. He even depicted Vegeta and Raditz as such in the Minus manga itself, lol.

I've reread so many times and still can't understand.

Bardock's shift in character is jarring to most fans, along with the change of his iconic armor. Gine is fine because she was never shown before, she's an original character the readers have no expectations for because they've never seen her.

Putting Goku in armor was really random too. Like, really random.

Minus sucked because it screwed with established concepts and characters, like Bardock and the Saiyans in general. I'm so tired of Toriyama (or Toei) going and rewriting Saiyan history and how the Saiyans as a race were. Make up a new race and turn them into fairies. Don't screw with the proud warrior race that had been established for more than a decade. That's like a new Nightmare On Elm Street doing an origin story for Freddy Krueger and making him incredibly sympathetic, or Don Mancini going back and saying Charles Lee Ray (Chucky) was only killing as a human because he needed the money to pay for his dying parents despite this not making any sense with the stuff we'd seen so far. It's unnecessary modification for the sake of it.

Bardock never had character yet. He only had 1 picture with no dialogue in the manga till Minus. And there's no telling what else could happen in the movie or what he does off-screen.
Nothing wrong with appearance retcons. This happens all the time. And people can change their look themselves whenever they want.

Nothing wrong with the armor. Simply taken off sometime when I got home.

So far, everything I've seen is still just opinions. Nothing done so far is bad per say, just different. They want to make improvements, and we'll have to wait to see the actual movie before adding on to those opinions.

If you don't like the Creator's decision, you can always try to contact Toyble. Once Toriyama passes and he fully takes over and tries to make SSJ5 and Xicor canon, maybe he'll rearrange things for you.
