Yeah and based on Vegeta's insistence that Nappa could take out Goku I can only conclude he is pretty close to 8000. Nappa could not even see Goku's 5000+ power and after calming down he could follow Goku 8000+. That doesn't make sense if he didn't increase his powers IMO.

And i would reiterate that vegeta is the only person that knows nappa's actual power level, and he still thinks he can win.

Durability has nothing to do with moving faster. Goku had no issue hitting a pissed off Nappa, but didn't once Nappa calmed down. Nappa's speed took Goku by surprise based on the !! you see when he barely dodges his punch.
Goku actually has the exclamation point when he notices Nappa keeping up with him after he dodged Nappa's blast by flying into the air.
Nappa could simply be able to keep up with Goku, because he was focused.
He was in the ''right state of mind'', as is mentioned by Toriyama in that one interview.

All that was stated is that Nappa calmed down and was able to fight better, but there was no power-up that was implied or shown to us, the logical consensus is that he didn't power-up at all. Goku resumes to mock him, and this shows that the two weren't close in power to begin with.

Silly antics such as 'my gaps tell us that two powers have to be so and so close because....', are completely redundant. There is nothing in the Manga to ascertain that Nappa is anything over 5,000.

As soon as Nappa's best technique was repelled, which is what Vegeta was counting on, he calls him down because he knows he's finished. He believe Nappa could potentially pull a victory had his mouth blast connected, but it didn't and he immediately dismisses his notion that Nappa could still achieve victory through hand and hand combat.

Vegeta said "It'd take forever with you" when he called Nappa down. That's not the same as saying he couldn't win.

Also, according to Goku, that blast would've been trouble if he didn't stop it. Nappa's blast is way above Nappa's normal level or Nappa is closer to Goku. It's one or the other.

Since Goku still mocks Nappa after he fought better, it's likely the 1rst analogy.

But since amplifying their powers through attacks is also something unusual, that creates another issue.

Goku simply acknowledged that Nappa was fighting better after admitting he was waiting to see Nappa's best. The "mocking" is Goku smiling and being excited that Nappa was putting up a much better fight. So that's another exaggeration.

Fighting better is not synonymous with becoming stronger. We're not told that in the slightest. Goku was mocking Nappa and this implies the two aren't close in physical combat.

You can call everything an exaggeration all you want but you have no statements to support the notion that Nappa's battle power increased. Nothing, absolutely nothing.

Vegeta was able to increase his battle power by 33% with his blast, so it's not outlandish for Nappa's mouth blast to do the same thing.

Arguing that Nappa is anything close to Goku is completely unsupported by the official source and the Herms translations.

Nappa didn't just fight better, he also moved a lot faster and could track Goku's movements. Or are you gonna say he was at the same speed he was when Goku was constantly hitting him?

Raditz: “He…He can raise his battle power by concentrating it into a single point!!!”

Vegeta: “Battle power 2,800...!!! So they really do drastically change their battle powers!!”

So amplifying their powers through attacks is unusual to the Saiyans. Vegeta's attack could be an exception because it's said to be his version of the KMHM. The one guy who knows how strong Nappa is says he can beat Goku, btw:

Vegeta: “Nappa!!!! Get a hold of yourself, fool!!!! He’s not an opponent you can’t take if you keep your head!!! Calm down!!!!”

Nappa: “I really had lost my head. Now it’s time for me to show you what I'm really capable of.”

So as long as Nappa is calm, he could beat Goku. What he's really capable of would be his full-power, which he was unable to fight with because he was frustrated.

Both Krillin and Gohan think the power they're sensing from the Saiyans is beyond imagination. They already sensed Goku's 5k level. Nappa isn't less than 5k because that quote alone shows that he's not above Nappa before he powered-up. Even Vegeta laughed when 5k Goku showed up.

Nappa claimed that he was in a fit of rage and couldn't fight at his best potential, that's all we're told. We're given no notions of an increased battle power.

Nappa refers to his mouth blast as his ultimate attack, there's no reason that it wouldn't amplify his Ki like Vegeta's gallic gun did.

As your statement shows, Nappa was in a fit of rage. Nothing more. Having a calm mind, again, is not synonymous with powering up, it only tells us that he became better in hand to hand combat and was previously unable to trace Goku's movements because he was in a fit of rage.

It affected his fighting ability, making him fight sloppy.

Goku noted the difference in Nappa's performance, saying it was a lot better. Nappa showed a far better performance than before, when he was fighting like a jackass.

All we're told is that Nappa calmed his mind which let him show Goku what he was truly capable of.

Nothing suggests his Ki increased. To argue anything but is to make a serious jump in logic.

If a calm mind can allow Nappa to move faster, then why can't it allow him to wield his power more effectively?

Having a calm mind allowed Nappa to continue to be mocked by Goku, nothing impressive there. But it did allow him to find an opening and nearly catch Goku off guard.

The same Goku who couldn't land a hit on Nappa, either. So much for the mockery.

All we're told is that Nappa is considered tough on two occasions, but the very definition of tough does not suggest strength as opposed to durability. Then we're shown that despite fighting to his best ability in hand to hand combat, he was still being mocked by Goku. Finally, his mindset allowed him to find an opening on Goku, but this isn't reflective of battle power, none of this is. It should strike people as odd that Akira Toriyama never, on one occasion, informed us, the reader, that Nappa's Ki increased in addition to maintaining a more settled mind. However, fan made myths regarding gaps dictate otherwise, even if their analogy is completely unsupported by the Japanese Manga.

I refuse to adhere to this silly trek of thought.

His mindset allowed him to exchange blows with someone that moved far too fast for him a few pages before. As the Freeza saga demonstrates, being a lot weaker than someone will render you unable to track them with your eyes. Nappa not only could track Goku once he was calm, but could also fight with him and dodge his attack.

Nappa isn't 2x weaker than Goku.

If Nappa was overrun with rage, which he obviously was, his reaction and eye movement will be hindered. It happens in boxing, there is no reason it wouldn't happen here.

The burden of proof to show us a statement that suggests his Ki increased lays on you and it will remain impossible for you to prove without speculative conjecture for eternity, because said statement does not exist.

Nappa is intimidated by a battle power of 5,000, and there is a very important reason for this; the Z-Fighters fared much better against Nappa then Nappa did against Goku.

He kept up in speed with someone supposedly way stronger and faster than him. That isn't just fighting better--that's demonstrating increased speed.

Krillin said the Saiyans had power beyond imagination when warning Goku. They already sensed his 5k level and knew how strong he was beforehand. Go ahead and say they can't sense Chi accurately to further your points.

So was Vegeta. He told Nappa to kill the others so they won't join with Goku.
