Yea there isn't anyway to get past Gohan being a Super Saiyan and it being weird. Super Saiyan Majin Vegeta is absolutely treated as the strongest there at that point.

Yes I don't see it as being a stretch that he does. He over heard him being confident in defeating Gohan who he knows has Ssj2, and Vegeta directly said they're stronger than Ssj2 Gohan, something that would require Vegeta to possess Ssj2.

There is a moment where Vegeta powers up to fight off Babidi's mind control, where he momentarily might've turned Ssj2. That power could've been how strong he was prior to receiving his power boost from Babidi, and Goku could've assumed that was his full power. Then the power he displayed later in front of Goku was the power that Babidi added on top of it.

Spare me some dignity and tell me there is a problem with this logic. Doesn't that imply somewhere that Goku accepts the fact that SSJ Vegeta > SSJ2 Teen Gohan, based off Vegeta's statements?
