958 - Decent chapter. Not really that eventful, other than the flaw of Oda once more relying on mystery-bait to keep the audience's attention.

Yeah, not the worst chapter but also not great. Especially considering there will be a break next week.. I mean you never know with Oda, but there is probably a lot more to this than meets the eye. Law probably teleported everyone there or something lol

Pleb theories - Luffy will gain Gear 5th and master his Haki to beat Kaido.

Enlightened theories - Odonoven will return and Big Mom will slip him 3 silver coins.

I just thought of something. Can’t Kanjiro create some sort of flying creatures with his devil fruit to allow them to bypass the rough seas? Isn’t that the point of his fruit lol

To be fair, Kanjuro's drawing skills limit the effectiveness of his drawing's capabilities, so trying to cross the seas with one would be quite a gamble. His only shown use of a drawing for flight performed quite poorly, after all.

It also wasn’t raining. Water might fuck with the ink, we don’t know too much about his abilities besides the drawings coming to life.

I think he means the Luffy's alliance. There are some clues pointing towards it.

Looks like 960 is out. Chapter is called Oden Appears. What, his shadow will appear again?

So, we finally got to see what Oden looked like. Needless to say, those constant silhouettes prior were absolutely pointless.

Chapter was overall pretty bad due to the fact half of it consists of bland exposition that just boils down to "Oden is a wild, selfish man who doesn't yet have the attitude of a leader." All of that could've been condensed down to a few sentences on one page or be a narration, yet we instead have this exposited to Oden's dad who should know all of this, or at least the key details.

Guess this uneventful flashback is just going to end up making Wano's pacing even slower. What's shown about the characters in contrast to their present selves is nice, but as of yet doesn't say much beyond "they used to be completely different" and will need to sacrifice pacing even more in order for their growth to feel natural.

Yea the last chapter was kinda meh. I can't say that I care for Oden's personality but Oda seems hellbent on making him "intriguing". I think all Oda has shown so far is that Oden is a moron. I guess he has left opportunity to showcase growth in his character, but that will take a lot of backstory to progress.
