Agreed. I never bought the kids being close to Gohan. They are stronger than Piccolo but that's about it. Most of their praise is about them going Super Saiyan at such a young age, which isn't necessarily a power cap.

Trunks was definitely closer to Vegeta's power than Cell, they were near equals. Trunks was beating Cell around just as easily as Vegeta.

They use ki to raise the power of their punches. That is why when characters raise their power level all stats increase.

Blue Vegeta might could beat Hit at the start of tournament but he is getting stomped by Hit from the Jiren fight, especially with Time Cage.
